Brown adipose tissue and regulation of human body weight
Abstract Background Approximately 30% of the global population is affected by obesity. Traditional non‐surgical measures for weight loss have limited efficacy and tolerability. Therefore, there is a need for novel, effective therapies. Brown adipose tissue (BAT) has been implicated in physiological energy expenditure, indicating that it could be ...

Newly published studies on satiety benefits of Korean pine nut oil (PinnoThin™)
A Korean pine nut oil product, PinnoThin™, has been shown to trigger the release of the satiety gut hormone cholecystokinin (CCK) in vitro. Recently published randomized, placebo-controlled double-blind crossover clinical trials have investigated the ...

Causal Inference in high dimensions: A marriage between Bayesian modeling and good frequentist properties [PDF]
We introduce a framework for estimating causal effects of binary and continuous treatments in high dimensions. We show how posterior distributions of treatment and outcome models can be used together with doubly robust estimators. We propose an approach to uncertainty quantification for the doubly robust estimator which utilizes posterior distributions

The prevalence of neurologically asymptomatic CSVD is common in the nondiabetic population. Glycated hemoglobin A1c correlated with periventricular white matter hyperintensities. Fasting blood glucose was associated with deep cerebral microbleeds. Better control of blood glucose may have a beneficial effect on reducing the risk of CSVD.

Chemical Shift Encoding based Double Bonds Quantification in Triglycerides using Deep Image Prior [PDF]
Fatty acid can potentially serve as biomarker for evaluating metabolic disorder and inflammation condition, and quantifying the double bonds is the key for revealing fatty acid information. This study presents an assessment of a deep learning approach utilizing Deep Image Prior (DIP) for the quantification of double bonds and methylene-interrupted ...
