Genetically Determined Plasma Lipid Levels and Risk of Diabetic Retinopathy: A Mendelian Randomization Study. [PDF]
Results from observational studies examining dyslipidemia as a risk factor for diabetic retinopathy (DR) have been inconsistent. We evaluated the causal relationship between plasma lipids and DR using a Mendelian randomization approach.

In islet β cells, LGR4 binds with Rspondin to activate the Wnt‐β‐catenin‐Ccnd1 axis, leading to a subsequent increase in cell proliferation. On the other hand, LGR4 also binds with RANKL, thus suppressing the phosphorylation of p44/p42 MAPK and p65 NF‐κB and subsequent cell apoptosis.

The ANGPTL8/PIRB/ALOX5AP axis mediates liver‐kidney crosstalk. Hepatocytes secrete ANGPTL8, which binds to CCR2+PIRB+ macrophages in the kidneys, affecting the expression of ALOX5AP and enhancing the activation of these macrophages. Activated cells produce TGF‐β, IL‐6, and IL‐23, driving Th17 activation and promote the formation of myofibroblasts ...

Polarization‐sensitive holotomography (PS‐HT) enables label‐free 3D imaging and quantitative analysis of lipid droplets by exploiting their intrinsic birefringence. Applied to prostate cell models, PS‐HT reveals glucose‐induced lipid accumulation in cancer cells and achieves near‐perfect classification of healthy and cancerous states.

This study identifies that REGγ is elevated in obese adipose tissue. REGγ modulates WAT browning via ubiquitin‐independent ACADM/KLF15–UCP1 degradation. Overactivation of the NRF2–REGγ axis facilitates adipose tissue function to cause obesity. Inhibition of REGγ in the iWAT alleviates HFD‐induced obesity.
