Potent monoclonal antibodies against multidrug‐resistant hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
A novel immunization strategy using a low‐virulence, multidrug‐resistant strain yields synergistic monoclonal antibodies against hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae. These antibodies provide cross‐serotype protection through a dual‐mechanism of pathogen clearance and immunomodulation, offering a promising non‐antibiotic therapeutic for resistant ...

Dasatinib and quercetin prevent alveolar bone loss in aged mice

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Recent findings have associated alveolar bone loss (ABL) with the presence of senescent cells. Aging and the accumulation of senescent cells are associated with a pro‐inflammatory environment which may exacerbate tissue damage.

Pharmacometabolomics Study of Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim in Kidney Transplant Recipients: Real-World Metabolism and Urinary Excretion

open access: yesMetabolites
Background/Objectives: The increased use of antibiotics is raising concerns about environmental contamination and antibiotic resistance, exemplified by the case of cotrimoxazole, a widely prescribed combination of sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim. After

The safe and effective use of tofacitinib and ustekinumab combination therapy in infantile onset inflammatory bowel disease

open access: yesJPGN Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Infantile‐onset inflammatory bowel disease (IOIBD) is a rare and severe subset of very‐early‐onset IBD, often associated with immune dysregulation and poor response to conventional therapies. Data regarding the use of Janus kinase inhibitors (JAKI) in this population is limited.

Effects of post‐hepatic portoenterostomy adjuvant therapy on liver transplantation in children with biliary atresia: A systematic review

open access: yesJPGN Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives Biliary atresia (BA) is a cholangiopathy characterized by obstruction of the intrahepatic and extrahepatic bile ducts. Hepatic portoenterostomy (HPE) is the primary palliative treatment and there is still an urgent need to improve post‐HPE management.

Clinical characteristics and prevalence of dihydropteroate synthase gene mutations in Pneumocystis jirovecii-infected AIDS patients from low endemic areas of China.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
Pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP) is an opportunistic and potentially life-threatening infection of AIDS patients caused by the fungus Pneumocystis jirovecii (P. jirovecii). Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (TMP-SMX) is the most commonly used drug combination in

Detecting Antibiotic Resistance in Strains of Selected Gram‐Negative Bacterial Species Using Raman Spectroscopy

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
Raman spectroscopy successfully identified antibiotic‐resistant Gram‐negative strains. Resistant strains of four bacterial species were discriminated from sensitive ones with 99.1% accuracy using PLS regression. The method allows for rapid, label‐free detection of antibiotic resistance.
