Perturbation of the Dimer Interface of Triosephosphate Isomerase and its Effect on Trypanosoma cruzi [PDF]

open access: gold, 2007
Chagas disease affects around 18 million people in the American continent. Unfortunately, there is no satisfactory treatment for the disease. The drugs currently used are not specific and exert serious toxic effects.

Computer Simulation of the Triosephosphate Isomerase Catalyzed Reaction [PDF]

open access: hybridJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1996
A major challenge for theoretical simulation methods is the calculation of enzymic reaction rates directly from the three-dimensional protein structure together with some idea of the chemical reaction mechanism. Here, we report the evaluation of a complete free energy profile for all the elementary steps of the triosephosphate isomerase catalyzed ...

Differential Proteomic Analysis of Human Saliva using Tandem Mass Tags Quantification for Gastric Cancer Detection. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Novel biomarkers and non-invasive diagnostic methods are urgently needed for the screening of gastric cancer to reduce its high mortality. We employed quantitative proteomics approach to develop discriminatory biomarker signatures from human saliva for ...

Characterization of human triosephosphate isomerase S-nitrosylation.

open access: yesNitric Oxide, 2018
Triosephosphate isomerase (TPI), the glycolytic enzyme that catalyzes the isomerization of dihydroxyacetone phosphate (DHAP) to glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate (G3P), has been frequently identified as a target of S-nitrosylation by proteomic studies. However, the effect of S-nitrosylation on its activity has only been explored in plants and algae.

Triosephosphate Isomerase of Pea Seeds [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1965
Triosephosphate isomerase catalyzes the reversible transformation of D-glyceralydehyde-3-phosphate and dihydroxyacetone phosphate. This enzyme, together with aldolase was shown by Meyerhof and Kiessling (9) to form the zymohexase system of rabbit muscle and yeast extracts (10).

Child Neurology: Triosephosphate isomerase deficiency [PDF]

open access: yesNeurology, 2020
Triosephosphate isomerase (TPI) deficiency is a rare autosomal recessive disease of infancy and childhood classified as a glycolytic enzymopathy. Clinical features include hemolytic anemia, progressive neuromuscular dysfunction, and increased susceptibility to infection with specific pathogenic variants resulting in severe disease and death by age 8 ...

Prenatal diagnosis of triosephosphate isomerase deficiency [PDF]

open access: yesBlood, 1996
First-trimester prenatal diagnosis was undertaken by chorionic villus DNA analysis in two unrelated families with the inherited glycolytic disorder triosephosphate isomerase (TPI) deficiency. The propositus in each family was shown to be homozygous for a missense mutation (GAG --> GAC) at codon 104 of the TPI gene.
