Comparison of the safety and efficacy of triple sequential therapy and transscleral cyclophotocoagulation for neovascular glaucoma in the angle-closure stage

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
To compare the efficacy and safety of triple therapy combining intravitreal injection of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor, trabeculectomy, and pan-retinal photocoagulation via binocular indirect ophthalmoscopy, with that of transscleral ...

Inhibition of fatty acid oxidation as a therapy for MYC-overexpressing triple-negative breast cancer. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Expression of the oncogenic transcription factor MYC is disproportionately elevated in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), as compared to estrogen receptor-, progesterone receptor- or human epidermal growth factor 2 receptor-positive (RP) breast cancer.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Peyronie’s disease: A “triple oxygenant therapy”

open access: yesArchivio Italiano di Urologia e Andrologia, 2013
Objectives: To evaluate the effects of upregulators of nitric oxide in one patient with Peyronie’s disease, after non significant improvement following intracavernosal verapamil. Methods: A 20-years-old Caucasian male presented with penile induration in flaccid state, persistent during erection and associated with mild pain at third middle of

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Comparative efficacy and safety of dual-combination vs. triple-combination antihypertensive therapies in hypertensive patients: an updated meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology
BackgroundCombination therapy is often required for treating hypertension, but the comparative efficacy and safety of triple versus dual antihypertensive regimens remain to be clarified by the latest evidence-based medical data. This meta-analysis aims to

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Triple Agonism Based Therapies for Obesity

open access: yesCurrent Cardiovascular Risk Reports
Abstract Purpose of the Review Glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists (RA) have transformed obesity and type 2 diabetes (T2D) management. Tirzepatide, the first dual GLP-1/glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) RA approved for both conditions, has paved the way for next-generation incretin-based
