Arthroscopic Repair of Anterior Labroligamentous Periosteal Sleeve Avulsion Lesions Does Not Have an Increased Failure Rate Compared to Arthroscopic Bankart Repair

open access: yesOrthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine, 2015
Objectives: Anterior labroligamentous periosteal sleeve avulsion lesions (ALPSA) have been identified as a potential risk factor for failure of an arthroscopic labral repair.

From nuclear submarines to graduate medical education: applying David Marquet’s intent-based leadership model

open access: yesMilitary Medical Research, 2017
L. David Marquet, a decorated Navy Captain, transformed an underperforming submarine crew by empowering his subordinates to be leaders and reach their full potential. He called this intent-based leadership (IBL). What would happen if Marquet’s model were

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

“Subcritical” Glenoid Bone Loss Increases Redislocation Rates in Primary Arthroscopic Bankart Repair

open access: yesOrthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine, 2014
Objectives: While bone loss is increasingly recognized as a risk factor for failure after arthroscopic stabilization, the precise definition of critical bone loss has not been defined.

SCHOTTKY DIODE TRIPLER IN THE 3-MM WAVE RECEIVER FOR INVESTIGATION OF ATMOSPHERIC GASES

open access: yesRadio Physics and Radio Astronomy, 2015
A Schottky diode frequency tripler for the 3-mm receiver system designed for observation of ozone and carbon monoxide spectral lines at frequencies 110.836 and 115.271 GHz, respectively, is developed. The used varactor parameters are investigated and its

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Effect of SARs-CoV-2 pandemic on infection prevention behaviors and bacterial burden of high touch surfaces in a medical/surgical setting

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
This study aimed to determine the longitudinal efficacy of ultraviolet germicidal disinfection (UV-C) in a non-terminal disinfection context. Moreover, factors influencing enhanced infection prevention behaviors during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic were ...

A monolithic 280 GHz HBV frequency tripler

open access: yes, 2010
We present the design and measurements of a Heterostructure Barrier Varactor based frequency tripler for 280 GHz. The tripler is fabricated as a monolithic circuit on an InP substrate, including the input and output waveguide probes.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Failure Rates After Anterior Cruciate Ligament Repair With Suture Tape Augmentation in an Active-Duty Military Population

open access: yesOrthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine, 2023
Background: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) repair had previously been considered the standard of care for a ruptured ACL; however, ACL reconstruction has became the standard of care because of poor midterm outcomes after ACL repair.
