Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Forced convection heat transfer in heat sinks with topologies based on triply periodic minimal surfaces

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2022
This study numerically and experimentally investigates the forced convection heat transfer in three mathematically designed heat sinks with lattice topologies based on triply periodic minimal surfaces (TPMS).

Periodic minimal surfaces of cubic symmetry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
A survey of cubic minimal surfaces is presented, based on the concept of fundamental surface patches and their relation to the asymmetric units of the space groups.

Construction of Negatively Curved Cubic Carbon Crystals via Standard Realizations

open access: yes, 2016
We constructed physically stable sp2 negatively curved cubic carbon structures which reticulate a Schwarz P-like surface. The method for constructing such crystal structures is based on the notion of the standard realization of abstract crystal lattices.

Structural transitions of monoolein bicontinuous cubic phase induced by inclusion of protein lysozyme solutions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Inclusion of protein lysozyme molecules in lipidic monoolein cubic phase induces a transition from a $\rm Pn\bar{3}m$ structure to $\rm Im\bar{3}m$ one.

Experimental and numerical characterization of imperfect additively manufactured lattices based on triply periodic minimal surfaces

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2023
Lattices based on triply periodic minimal surfaces (TPMS) are attracting increasing interest in seminal industries such as bone tissue engineering due to their excellent structure-property relationships.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Computation of Implicit Representation of Volumetric Shells with Predefined Thickness

open access: yesAlgorithms, 2021
We propose and validate a method to find an implicit representation of a surface placed at a distance h from another implicit surface. With two such surfaces on either side of the original surface, a volumetric shell of predefined thickness can be ...

Self-Assembled Triply Periodic Minimal Surfaces as moulds for Photonic Band Gap Materials

open access: yes, 1998
We propose systems with structures defined by self-assembled triply periodic minimal surfaces (STPMS) as candidates for photonic bandgap materials. To support our proposal we have calculated the photonic bands for different STPMS and we have found that ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve
