Recommendations on rock lobster TACs for Tristan rock lobster Jasus tristani, Nightingale, Inaccessible and Gough islands for the 2022/23 season

OMPs are the agreed basis to recommend rock lobster (Jasus tristani) TACs for all four islands of the Tristan da Cunha Group. The application of these OMPs using the most recent CPUE and survey data (and Vessel CPUE data in the case of Tristan) for input into the various OMPs are used to calculate the TACs for the 2022/23 season.

Updated 2012 rock lobster assessments of the Tristan da Cunha group of islands

This paper provides updated assessments of the rock lobster resources at the four islands of the Tristan da Cunha group, now incorporating two further years of data. Abundances at all four islands are estimated to be high (Bsp/K estimates in the range 0.75 to 0.89 for 2012), though these results assume no impact from the Oliva incident.

GLM-standardised rock lobster (Jasus tristani) vessel CPUE at Tristan

A GLM method is described which is used to standardise the vessel CPUE data at Tristan. The vessel CPUE provides a more optimistic indication of stock status than the powerboat CPUE for the 2017 seasons.
