Co-expression of squalene epoxidases with triterpene cyclases boosts production of triterpenoids in plants and yeast

open access: yesMetabolic Engineering, 2018
Triterpene cyclases catalyze the first committed step in triterpene biosynthesis, by forming mono- to pentacyclic backbone structures from oxygenated C30 isoprenoid precursors.

Triterpenes and a triterpene glucoside from Dysoxylum cumingianum

Phytochemistry, 2011
Six triterpenes and a triterpene glucoside were isolated from the MeOH extract of the leaves of Dysoxylum cumingianum together with three known triterpenes. Their structures were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic analyses. In cytotoxicity assays against three human cancer cell lines, including a multi-drug resistant cancer cell line (KB-C2 ...

Differential Partitioning of Triterpenes and Triterpene Esters in Apple Peel

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2018
Apple peel is a rich source of secondary metabolites, and several studies have outlined the dietary health benefits of ursane-type triterpenes in apple. Changes in triterpene metabolism have also been associated with the development of superficial scald, a postharvest apple peel browning disorder, and postharvest applications of diphenylamine and 1 ...

Triterpene Biosynthesis in Plants

Annual Review of Plant Biology, 2014
The triterpenes are one of the most numerous and diverse groups of plant natural products. They are complex molecules that are, for the most part, beyond the reach of chemical synthesis. Simple triterpenes are components of surface waxes and specialized membranes and may potentially act as signaling molecules, whereas complex glycosylated triterpenes ...

Triterpenes and triterpene glycosides from Paradrymonia macrophylla

Phytochemistry, 1996
Abstract Seven pentacyclic triterpenes and triterpene glycosides have been isolated from the stems and roots of Paradrymonia macrophylla and their structures elucidated by means of 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. Three of them are described for the first time as natural products, namely: 2α,3β,19α-trihydroxy-24-oxo-urs-12-en-28-oic acid (24-epi ...

A Reinvestigation of Maprounea Triterpenes

Journal of Natural Products, 1995
Anti-HIV activity and the inhibition of phorbol ester receptor binding activity in two species of Maprounea were traced to small amounts of highly potent phorbol esters of the daphnane type. The triterpenes previously isolated from this genus were found to be devoid of biological activity when scrupulously purified.

Triterpene und Triterpen-Saponine

1955

Triterpenes and triterpene glycosides from the leaves of Ilex rotunda

Phytochemistry, 1993
Abstract Two new triterpenes, ilexolic acid A and B, and seven new saponins, ilexosides XXXIII–XXXIX, together with the known saponin rotungenoside were isolated from the fresh leaves of Ilex rotunda , and their structures elucidated on the basis of chemical and physicochemical evidence.
