p75NTR and apoptosis: Trk-dependent and Trk-independent effects

Trends in Neurosciences, 1997
The ongoing dissection of the roles of p75NTR and TrkA, -B and -C in neurotrophin signaling has generated a number of apparent paradoxes. Limiting consideration to the role of p75NTR in cell death, a theory is proposed that is based on the following postulates: (1) that p75NTR displays a pro-apoptotic intrinsic (ligand-independent, Trk-independent ...

Trk Receptors

2014
The tropomyosin-related tyrosine kinase (Trk) receptors were initially described as a family of growth factor receptors required for neuronal survival. They have since been shown to influence many aspects of neuronal development and function, including differentiation, outgrowth, and synaptic plasticity.

TRK inhibitor activity and resistance in TRK fusion-positive cancers in adults

Cancer Genetics, 2022
NTRK fusions drive oncogenesis in a variety of adult cancers. The approval of the first-generation TRK inhibitors, larotrectinib and entrectinib, for any cancer with an NTRK fusion represented a focal point in tumor-agnostic drug development. These agents achieve high response rates and durable disease control, and display intracranial activity.

Trk neurotrophin receptor activators

Drug News & Perspectives, 2002
The neurotrophins are a small group of proteins whose binding at the tropomyosin related kinase (Trk) and p75 neurotrophin receptor transmembrane receptors triggers a cascade of signaling events that give rise to neurotrophic responses in neuronal cells and in vivo.

Neurotrophin receptors (Trk A, Trk B, and Trk C) in the developing and adult human retina

Developmental Brain Research, 1999
In this study, the ontogeny and distribution patterns of three neurotrophin receptors (Trk A, Trk B, and Trk C) were examined in the human retinas. Immunohistochemistry was performed on sections of retina and optic nerve from fetuses (11-24 weeks of gestation, wg), one infant (4-month-old) and two adult (35- and 65-years-old) subjects.
