Neurotrophin signal transduction by the Trk receptor.
Journal of Neurobiology, 1994The initial event in the neuronal differentiation of PC12 cells is the binding of the neurotrophin nerve growth factor (NGF) to the Trk receptor. This interaction stimulates the intrinsic tyrosine kinase activity of Trk, initiating a signalling cascade ...

Indole-like Trk receptor antagonists.
European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2016The virtual screening for new scaffolds for TrkA receptor antagonists resulted in potential low molecular weight drug candidates for the treatment of neuropathic pain and cancer. In particular, the compound (Z)-3-((5-methoxy-1H-indol-3-yl)methylene)-2-oxindole and its derivatives were assessed for their inhibitory activity against Trk receptors.

The Trk family is composed of three principal members (A, B and C), also termed neurotrophin tyrosine kinase receptors (NTRK1, NTRK2, NTRK3), with several additional splice variants, which in humans are located on three different chromosomes (1, 9, 15).

Ubiquitin Regulation of Trk Receptor Trafficking and Degradation [PDF]
The regulation of Trk receptors is critical for orchestrating multiple signalling pathways required for developing and maintaining neuronal networks. Activation of Trk receptors results in signalling, internalisation and subsequent degradation of the protein.

Trk neurotrophin receptor activators
Drug News & Perspectives, 2002The neurotrophins are a small group of proteins whose binding at the tropomyosin related kinase (Trk) and p75 neurotrophin receptor transmembrane receptors triggers a cascade of signaling events that give rise to neurotrophic responses in neuronal cells and in vivo.

Neurotrophins and their Trk‐receptors in the cerebellum of zebrafish
Journal of Morphology, 2016ABSTRACTNeurotrophins (NTs) and their specific Trk‐receptors are key molecules involved in the regulation of survival, proliferation, and differentiation of central nervous system during development and adulthood in vertebrates. In the present survey, we studied the expression and localization of neurotrophins and their Trk‐receptors in the cerebellum ...

The tropomyosin-related tyrosine kinase (Trk) receptors were initially described as a family of growth factor receptors required for neuronal survival. They have since been shown to influence many aspects of neuronal development and function, including differentiation, outgrowth, and synaptic plasticity.

Trk receptor alterations in Alzheimer's disease
Molecular Brain Research, 1996The expression of trk receptors in postmortem normal, Huntington's disease and Alzheimer's disease human brains was investigated using immunohistochemistry, in-situ hybridisation and Western blotting. Alzheimer's disease hippocampi displayed an increase in trkA receptor levels in astrocytes in the CA1 region, some of which were associated with beta ...
