Comparative study of the biological activities of the aqueous extracts of two spontaneous plants harvested in the Algerian Sahara [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The present study investigates the insecticidal and herbicidal effects of leaf extracts from two plants were harvested in the Northern Algerian Sahara. These are Cleome arabica (Capparaceae) and Pergularia tomentosa (Asclepiadaceae). The efficacy of the extracts from the plants was evaluated by the reflux extraction method.

Reduction of multiple scattering of high-energy positively charged particles during channeling in single crystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We present the experimental observation of the reduction of multiple scattering of high-energy positively charged particles during channeling in single crystals. According to our measurements the rms angle of multiple scattering in the plane orthogonal to the plane of the channeling is less than half that for non-channeled particles moving in the same ...

Measurements of azimuthal anisotropy and charged-particle multiplicity in $d$$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=$200, 62.4, 39, and 19.6 GeV [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. C 96, 064905 (2017), 2017
We present measurements of the elliptic flow, $v_2$, as a function of transverse momentum ($p_T$), pseudorapidity ($\eta$), and centrality in $d$$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=$200, 62.4, 39, and 19.6 GeV. The beam-energy scan of $d$$+$Au collisions provides a testing ground for the onset of flow signatures in small collision systems. We measure

The Global Durum Wheat Panel (GDP): An International Platform to Identify and Exchange Beneficial Alleles

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2020
Representative, broad and diverse collections are a primary resource to dissect genetic diversity and meet pre-breeding and breeding goals through the identification of beneficial alleles for target traits. From 2,500 tetraploid wheat accessions obtained

CRISPR-Cas9 Multiplex Editing of the α-Amylase/Trypsin Inhibitor Genes to Reduce Allergen Proteins in Durum Wheat

open access: yesFrontiers in Sustainable Food Systems, 2020
Wheat and its derived foods are widespread, representing one of the main food sources globally. During the last decades, the incidence of disorders related to wheat has become a global issue for the human population, probably linked to the spread of ...

Multiple scattering of channeled and non-channeled positively charged particles in bent monocrystalline silicon [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
We present the results of an experimental study of multiple scattering of positively charged high energy particles in bent samples of monocrystalline silicon. This work confirms the recently discovered effect of a strong reduction in the rms multiple scattering angle of particles channeled in the silicon (111) plane. The effect is observed in the plane

Measurement of charm and bottom production from semileptonic hadron decays in $p$$+$$p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200$ GeV [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. D 99, 092003 (2019), 2019
Measurements of the differential production of electrons from open-heavy-flavor hadrons with charm- and bottom-quark content in $p$$+$$p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=200$ GeV are presented. The measurements proceed through displaced-vertex analyses of electron tracks from the semileptonic decay of charm and bottom hadrons using the PHENIX silicon-vertex ...

Whole Genome Scan Reveals Molecular Signatures of Divergence and Selection Related to Important Traits in Durum Wheat Germplasm

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2020
The first breeding program in the world for durum wheat was conceived in Italy in the early 1900s. Over the decades, pressure exerted by natural and artificial selection could have progressively reduced the genetic diversity of the durum wheat germplasm.

Measurement of long-range angular correlations and azimuthal anisotropies in high-multiplicity $p$$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. C 95, 034910 (2017), 2016
We present the first measurements of long-range angular correlations and the transverse momentum dependence of elliptic flow $v_2$ in high-multiplicity $p$$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV. A comparison of these results with previous measurements in high-multiplicity $d$$+$Au and $^3{\rm He}$$+$Au collisions demonstrates a relation between

Single Electrons from Heavy Flavor Decays in p+p Collisions at sqrt(s) = 200 GeV [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Rev.Lett.96:032001 (2006), 2005
The invariant differential cross section for inclusive electron production in $p + p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 200$~GeV has been measured by the PHENIX experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider over the transverse momentum range $0.4 \le p_T \le 5.0$~GeV/$c$ in the central rapidity region ($|\eta| \le 0.35$).
