From foraging to decomposition: Large vertebrates as biotic drivers of trace element cycling across landscapes

We highlight an overlooked pathway in ecosystem functioning: the role of animal carcass decomposition in trace element cycling. By linking animal life cycles to landscape‐scale processes, we explain how large animals redistribute scarce elements and influence spatial heterogeneity, with implications for ecosystem functioning and restoration.

Evidence of parental care as a newly identified reproductive isolating barrier

Behavioural variation can contribute to reproductive isolation and can be an important driver of speciation. Here, we show that a previously undescribed mechanism, parental care, can function as a postzygotic reproductive isolating barrier when dysregulated in hybrids.

Niche occupancy of Jamaican bat caves: Diversity increases isotopic niche packing

Tropical bat caves are home to hundreds of thousands of bats of multiple species. In Jamaica, we found that isotopic niche packing is the likely mechanism of coexistence at more diverse sites. Offspring performance does not explain oviposition preference in the leafminer Stigmella sorbi (Lepidoptera: Nepticulidae): a tri‐trophic perspective

We studied oviposition site selection in a leaf‐mining moth (Stigmella sorbi) on rowan trees (Sorbus aucuparia) in northwestern Russia, assessing larval performance across different shoot types, leaf positions, and leaflets. Larval survival was highest on long vegetative shoots, yet females showed no preference for these optimal sites.
