Gestational trophoblastic disease
Cancer, 1995Gestational trophoblastic disease consists of a group of interrelated diseases, including molar pregnancy, placental site trophoblastic tumor, and choriocarcinoma.Advances in the diagnosis and management of gestational trophoblastic diseases over the past 5 years were reviewed.Molar pregnancy is now categorized as complete or partial on the basis of ...

The human placental trophoblasts which constitute the first fetal cells and form the major cell layer of the feto-maternal interface are potent producers of interferons (IFNs). The IFN production is dependent on the gestational age of the trophoblast, type of inducer and the stage of differentiation of the trophoblasts.

AbstractIn order to elucidate the regulation of placental growth, we have characterized the expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), apoptotic DNA fragmentation and bc1‐2 protein in human placenta during pregnancy. PCNA and bc1‐2 protein expression were examined by immunohistochemical techniques, while the occurrence of apoptotic DNA ...

Gestational Trophoblastic Neoplasia
International Journal of Gynecology & Obstetrics, 2006STAGING In 2000 FIGO recommended a clinical staging of gestational trophoblastic tumors and requested that such cases should be reported to the Annual Report on the Results of Treatment in Gynecological Cancer. For this purpose the definitions of the clinical stages of gestational trophoblastic tumors are presented in Table 1.

Insufficient invasion ability of trophoblasts might be associated with the development of recurrent miscarriage (RM). Ubiquitin‐specific protease 25 (USP25) can regulate the processes of invasion and migration in different types of cancer cells. However,

Extravillous Trophoblast, Trophoblastic Invasion, and Fibrinoid
2010The nonvillous parts of the placenta include the chorionic plate, cell islands, cell columns, placental septa, basal plate, marginal zone, and fibrinoid deposits (Fig. 8.1). These structures do not participate in maternofetal exchange, but have mechanical and metabolic functions.

Gestational trophoblastic disease
Best Practice & Research Clinical Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 2012Most women with gestational trophoblastic disease are of reproductive age. Because the disease is readily treatable with favourable prognosis, fertility becomes an important issue. Hydatidiform mole is a relatively benign disease, and most women do not require chemotherapy after uterine evacuation.

Gestational trophoblastic neoplasms
Gynecologic Oncology, 1974A review of the classification, biological behavior, clinical diagnosis, and treatment of gestational trophoblastic neoplasms is presented. The events which followed the utilization of chemotherapy as a successful means of therapy are included. Especially important has been the recent recognition that high risk patients, i.e., patients with HCG titers ...
