ABSTRACT Aim Biodiversity is declining at a rapid rate, and effective conservation necessitates understanding the drivers of species richness patterns at management‐relevant scales. Vegetation productivity data derived from satellite data estimate the available energy in ecosystems, allowing the generation of relevant indices that explain biodiversity ...

Polymatroidal tilings and the Chow class of linked projective spaces
Abstract Linked projective spaces are quiver Grassmannians of constant dimension one of certain quiver representations, called linked nets, over certain quivers, called Zn$\mathbb {Z}^n$‐quivers. They were recently introduced as a tool for describing schematic limits of families of divisors.

Tropical Fock–Goncharov coordinates for $\mathrm {SL}_3$ -webs on surfaces I: construction
For a finite-type surface $\mathfrak {S}$ , we study a preferred basis for the commutative algebra $\mathbb {C}[\mathscr {R}_{\mathrm {SL}_3(\mathbb {C})}(\mathfrak {S})]$ of regular functions on the $\mathrm {SL}_3(\mathbb {C ...

On tropical dualities in cluster algebras
We study two families of integer vectors playing a crucial part in the structural theory of cluster algebras: the $\gg$-vectors parameterizing cluster variables, and the $\cc$-vectors parameterizing the coefficients. We prove two identities relating these vectors to each other.

Cluster Algebras of Type $D_4$, Tropical Planes, and the Positive Tropical Grassmannian
We show that the number of combinatorial types of clusters of type $D_4$ modulo reflection-rotation is exactly equal to the number of combinatorial types of tropical planes in $\mathbb{TP}^5$. This follows from a result of Sturmfels and Speyer which classifies these tropical planes into seven combinatorial classes using a detailed study of the tropical

Three lectures on tropical algebra
This document is a slightly expanded version of a series of talks given by J. Giansiracusa at the workshop `Geometry over semirings' at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in July 2025. In the first lecture we introduce tropical polynomials, ideals, congruences, and how the connection with tropical geometry is made via congruences of bend relations ...

Nil-equivariant tropological sigma models on filtered geometries
We investigate the behavior of tropological (tropical topological) sigma models on higher dimensional target spaces and show that higher dimensional spaces explicitly admit nested Maslov dequantizations which lead to nontrivial anisotropic filtration ...

Moduli of algebraic and tropical curves [PDF]
This is mostly* a non-technical exposition of the joint work arXiv:1212.0373 with Caporaso and Payne. Topics include: Moduli of Riemann surfaces / algebraic curves; Deligne-Mumford compactification; Dual graphs and the combinatorics of the compactification; Tropical curves and their moduli; Non-archimedean geometry and comparison.
