AVALIAÇÃO DE ESPECTRÔMETRO NIR PORTÁTIL E PLS-DA PARA A DISCRIMINAÇÃO DE SEIS ESPÉCIES SIMILARES DE MADEIRAS AMAZÔNICAS

open access: yesQuímica Nova
Supervising wood exploitation can be very challenging due to the existence of many similar species and the reduced number of wood identification experts to meet the demand.

Specific and generic stem biomass and volume models of tree species in a West African tropical semi-deciduous forest

open access: yesSilva Fennica, 2016
The quantification of the contribution of tropical forests to global carbon stocks and climate change mitigation requires availability of data and tools such as allometric equations.

Plant functional types broadly describe water use strategies in the Caatinga, a seasonally dry tropical forest in northeast Brazil

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2021
In seasonally dry tropical forests, plant functional type can be classified as deciduous low wood density, deciduous high wood density, or evergreen high wood density species.

Drought Stress Mediated Changes in Food Crops: Mechanisms and Remediation Strategies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents a multi‐scale framework for flavonoid‐mediated drought tolerance in staple food crops, integrating ROS redox regulation, antioxidant defense, rhizosphere microbial interactions, and sustainable agronomic practices. This interdisciplinary model provides core insights to develop climate‐resilient cropping systems and enhance global ...

Rainfall Shapes the Diversity of Soil Nitrogen‐Fixing Microorganisms Worldwide

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals the distinctive pattern and mechanism of rainfall driving the global biodiversity and biogeography of soil potential N‐fixing microorganisms, and constructs the theoretical framework. The results guide us on how to maintain ecosystem productivity under future climate changes (e.g., whether a specific region needs more N fertilizers ...

Dual pKa Lipid Nanoparticles for Lung‐tropic mRNA Delivery and pH‐Programmed Endosomal Escape

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lipid nanoparticles’ bottleneck lies in low endosomal escape efficiency and liver‐dominant delivery after intravenous administration. To overcome these limitations, we present a stepwise pH‐programmed lipid nanoparticle system enabled by our newly synthesized ionizable lipid.

Symbiont‐Induced HSP83 Establishes Two‐Tiered Control of Antifungal Immunity in an Invasive Beetle–Fungus Complex

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In an invasive beetle–fungus complex, the mutualist Leptographium procerum induces host HSP83 and modulates Toll‐dependent antifungal immunity. HSP83 mediates two‐tiered control by associating with selected fungal recognition receptors and restraining Dorsal‐driven antimicrobial peptide transcription.

Thermal Shifts Dominate Single‐Gene Responses to Transcription‐Targeting Antibiotics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Thermal shifts reshape bacterial responses to transcription‐targeting antibiotics. In E. coli, temperature can dominate antibiotic‐induced genome‐wide expression, particularly outside 30°C–39°C, through changes in adenosine triphosphate (ATP), nucleoid organization, and drug‐target engagement.

Determination of optimal photographic conditions for anatomical characterization of ten timber species of Costa Rica

open access: yesRevista Cubana de Ciencias Forestales, 2020
There is an absence of studies on tropical timber species that show the optimization in quantity and dimensions of wood photography in anatomical studies, an aspect that restricts the statistical representativeness in anatomical studies in tropical ...

The intensity and spatial dispersion of within‐plant herbivory drive trait‐specific resistance and tolerance in wild cotton

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise Herbivory induces complex plant defensive responses that may vary depending on the amount and spatial dispersion of damage on the plant; however, of the two variables, damage dispersion has received much less attention. To address this gap, we studied wild cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) defensive responses to different herbivory amounts ...
