Human Pegivirus Encephalitis With Brain Detection and Response to Sofosbuvir Ledipasvir

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Human pegivirus (HPgV‐1) has been associated with severe encephalomyelitis in immunocompromised patients. Its neurological spectrum remains poorly defined. We report a slowly progressive encephalitis in a person living with well‐controlled HIV, characterized by white matter abnormalities and inflammatory cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). HPgV RNA was

Pre-clearing vegetation of the coastal lowlands of the Wet Tropics Bioregion, North Queensland [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A pre-clearing vegetation map and digital coverage at approximately 1:50 000 scale for the coastal lowlands (up to about 200 m elevation) of the Wet Tropics Bioregion, North Queensland is presented.

Enhancing hybridization potential through standardizing emasculation techniques and molecular marker integration in finger millet (Eleusine coracana L.)

open access: yesPlant Methods
Background Finger millet (Eleusine coracana L.) has been cultivated for thousands of years in semi-arid regions of Asia and Africa. The grains have immense nutritional potential, but the genetic gains needed for high yield are yet to be realized.

Genetic approaches for assessment of phosphorus use efficiency in groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.)

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Production of phosphorus efficient genotypes in groundnut can improve and also reduces environmental pollution. Identification of P-efficient groundnut genotypes is a need of the hour to sustain in P-deficient soils. The pot experiment showed significant

Neglected Tropical Diseases outside the Tropics

open access: yesPLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, 2010
The neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) cause significant morbidity and mortality worldwide. Due to the growth in international travel and immigration, NTDs may be diagnosed in countries of the western world, but there has been no specific focus in the literature on imported NTDs.Retrospective study of a cohort of immigrants and travelers diagnosed with

Fusogenic RNA Nanomodules for Fusion‐Mediated and Multiplexed siRNA Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A fusogenic lipid‐layered RNA nanomodules (L‐CRAMs) enable high‐capacity and long‐lasting siRNA delivery through membrane fusion. These nanomodules carry exceptionally large siRNA payloads, avoid conventional endosomal uptake, and release multiple functional siRNAs through Dicer‐mediated processing.

Perturbations in the carbon budget of the tropics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The carbon budget of the tropics has been perturbed as a result of human influences. Here, we attempt to construct a ‘bottom-up’ analysis of the biological components of the budget as they are affected by human activities.

Single Seed-Based High-Throughput Genotyping and Rapid Generation Advancement for Accelerated Groundnut Genetics and Breeding Research

open access: yesAgronomy, 2021
The groundnut breeding program at International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics routinely performs marker-based early generation selection (MEGS) in thousands of segregating populations.

Estimation of tree age in the humid tropics by vessel measurement: a preliminary study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We estimated the age of plantation-grown trees lacking distinct and consistent annual rings to examine whether an anatomical method for determining the vessel traits of wood is effective in the tropical rain forest climate.
