The biarylitides are fascinating RiPP natural products with small core peptides and diverse peptide crosslinks performed by cytochrome P450 enzymes. Here, we address the discovery and diversity of the biarylitides, methods to analyse these constrained cyclic peptides, the structures of the biarylitide P450 enzymes and address alternate catalytic ...

Abstract Allosteric regulation of catalytic activity is a widespread property of multi‐enzyme complexes. The tryptophan synthase is a prototypical allosteric enzyme where the constituting α (TrpA) and β (TrpB) subunits mutually activate each other in a manner that is incompletely understood.

TagF-mediated repression of bacterial type VI secretion systems involves a direct interaction with the cytoplasmic protein Fha [PDF]
The bacterial type VI secretion system (T6SS) delivers effectors into eukaryotic host cells or toxins into bacterial competitor for survival and fitness.

ABSTRACT The industrially attractive biopolymer poly‐γ‐glutamic acid (γ‐PGA) is commonly produced by species of the genus Bacillus by co‐feeding different carbon‐ and nitrogen‐sources. Recent studies have highlighted the pivotal role of co‐metabolization of a rapidly degradable carbon source such as glycerol together with citrate for γ‐PGA production ...

Regulation of the \u3cem\u3eEscherichia coli\u3c/em\u3e Tryptophan Operon by Early Reactions in the Aromatic Pathway [PDF]
7-Methyltryptophan (7MT) or compounds which can be metabolized to 7MT, 3-methylanthranilic acid (3MA) and 7-methylindole, cause derepression of the trp operon through feedback inhibition of anthranilate synthetase. Tyrosine reverses 3MA or 7-methylindole

The Streptomyces coelicolor small ORF trpM stimulates growth and morphological development and exerts opposite effects on actinorhodin and calcium-dependent antibiotic production [PDF]
In actinomycetes, antibiotic production is often associated with a morpho-physiological differentiation program that is regulated by complex molecular and metabolic networks. Many aspects of these regulatory circuits have been already elucidated and many

The hypothetical model of positive regulation of DhyR on daptomycin (DAP) production. DhyR enhanced DAP production by promoting the expression of the DAP gene cluster and precursor flux. Solid arrows: activation. Colour gradient arrow: upregulation. Solid lines: direct regulation. Dashed lines: indirect regulation or unknown route. ABSTRACT Daptomycin (

Evolution of a genome-encoded bias in amino acid biosynthetic pathways is a potential indicator of amino acid dynamics in the environment. [PDF]
Overcoming the stress of starvation is one of an organism's most challenging phenotypic responses. Those organisms that frequently survive the challenge, by virtue of their fitness, will have evolved genomes that are shaped by their specific environments.

The quorum sensing (QS) system of Cereibacter sphaeroides includes six LuxR homologs and one acylhomoserine lactone synthase homolog. Two LuxR homologs, CerM and CerN, are involved in regulating the expression of ctrA, which is part of the CckA/ChpT/CtrA two‐component system that controls flagellar motility.
