A True Triaxial Apparatus for Soil Testing with Mixed Boundary Conditions
Geotechnical Testing Journal, 2005Abstract The mechanical description of a new true triaxial apparatus for soil testing is presented. The design took into consideration flexibility in accommodating different specimen sizes, easy assembly procedure, and well-controlled boundary conditions. The apparatus can perform stress-controlled and strain controlled experiments.

Shear Banding in True Triaxial Tests and Its Effect on Failure in Sand
Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 2001The occurrence of failure, mechanisms that create failure, and soil behavior in the vicinity of failure have been investigated. One mechanism is smooth peak failure, in which the soil continues to behave as a continuum with uniform strains, and smooth peak failure is followed by strain softening.

A true triaxial cell for testing cylindrical rock specimens
International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences & Geomechanics Abstracts, 1995In this paper a new true triaxial cell, capable of routine testing of cylindrical rock core plugs under realistic 3-D polyaxial stress states, has been conceived by the author, the design of which is outlined. The cell presents the opportunity to develop enhanced realism when testing cylindrical rock specimens.

Strength and Dilatancy of Overconsolidated Clays in Drained True Triaxial Tests
Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, 2014AbstractThe long-term mechanical behavior of overconsolidated (OC) clays in three-dimensional (3D) stress states plays an important role in many geotechnical problems, such as slope failures. However, previous experimental studies of OC clay were carried out under undrained conditions.

Stress–strain behaviour of unsaturated soil in true triaxial tests
Canadian Geotechnical Journal, 2002A suction-controlled true triaxial apparatus for unsaturated soil was developed from the existing true triaxial apparatus for sand by attaching a device to supply matric suction to specimens. Using the developed apparatus, true triaxial tests (σ1 [Formula: see text] σ2 [Formula: see text] σ3; where σ1, σ2, and σ3 are the three different principal ...

Study of Artificial Structural Loess under the True Triaxial Tests
Advanced Materials Research, 2013Structure characteristic is the essential property of natural soils. The paper developed an indoor method of artificial structural loess, and studied on the true triaxial tests of artificial structural loess on the base of improving the original true triaxial apparatus. The results show that it is reasonably reliable of this artificial method.
