Isolation and characteristics of trypsin inhibitor from the hepatopancreas of a squid (Todarodes pacificus) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Trypsin inhibitor was purified from the hepatopancreas of squid (Todarodes pacificus). The final inhibitor preparation was nearly homogeneous by SDS-PAGE with an estimated molecular weight of approximately 6300.

Trypsin inhibitors in seeds and pods of Phaseolus vulgaris/coccineus: A comparative study of shaking and ultrasonic extraction methods

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Biotechnology
Background: Different methods for the extraction of trypsin inhibitors in beans (Phaseolus spp.) were investigated. Two randomised complete laboratory experiments were performed, one on the seeds and one on the pods.

Inhibitory Effect of Protease Inhibitors on Larval Midgut Protease Activities and the Performance of Plutella xylostella (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae)

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2019
Plutella xylostella L. (diamondback moth) is a pest of cruciferous plants. To understand the relationship among protease inhibitors, protease activities and the growth and development of this insect, the activities of midgut proteases of P.

Coaxially Electrospun Myocardial dECM‐ Based Nanofibrous Scaffolds Demonstrate Enhanced Cardiomyocyte Biocompatibility

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Our coaxial electrospinning system is capable of incorporating decellularized myocardial extracellular matrix in a core‐sheath configuration, creating nanofibrous scaffolds. These scaffolds, in turn, support the maintenance of functional cardiomyocytes adhered to the surface of these bioactive scaffolds.

Flash Assembloids: A Rapid Biofabrication of a Platform for Modeling Early Glioblastoma Invasion at the Glioblastoma–Brain Organoid Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a bioengineered assembloid (ASM) system combining glioblastoma (GBM) cells in oxidized alginate (OA) microgels with dorsal organoids (DOs). This model simulates brain tumor‐host interactions, revealing enhanced GBM invasion, altered gene expression, and aggressive infiltration patterns, demonstrating ASM as a valuable platform for ...

Intriguing role of water in protein-ligand binding studied by neutron crystallography on trypsin complexes

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Trypsin is a serine protease. Here the authors present the high resolution X-ray and neutron diffraction structures of uncomplexed and inhibitor bound trypsin that provide insights into the geometry of H-bonds in the active site of the enzyme and ...

A Fully Human Engineered Bone Niche With Endogenous Osteoclastogenesis Reveals Osteoclast‐Dependent Osteomimicry in Prostate Cancer Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A human 3D bone niche integrating osteoblasts and osteoclasts enables co‐culture with prostate cancer cell lines and patient‐derived organoids. The engineered niche (i) models aspects of reciprocal phenotypic regulation between osteoblasts and cancer cells, (ii) captures osteoclast‐enhanced osteomimicry in tumor cells, and (iii) establishes a ...

Tracking Spatiotemporal Extracellular Matrix Evolution and Tissue Fusion in 3D Microtissues via Click Chemistry‐Based Metabolic Labelling

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Metabolic labeling of nascent proteins in 3D microtissue spheroids provides a powerful analytical approach for large‐scale tissue engineering. Incorporation of non‐canonical amino acids with fluorescent tagging enables spatiotemporal investigation of extracellular matrix deposition and its evolution during multicellular tissue development and fusion ...
