Type I interferons in tuberculosis: Foe and occasionally friend [PDF]
Tuberculosis remains one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide, and, despite its clinical significance, there are still significant gaps in our understanding of pathogenic and protective mechanisms triggered by Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection.

Whole genome sequencing of Mycobacterium tuberculosis reveals slow growth and low mutation rates during latent infections in humans [PDF]
Very little is known about the growth and mutation rates of Mycobacterium tuberculosis during latent infection in humans. However, studies in rhesus macaques have suggested that latent infections have mutation rates that are higher than that observed ...

Possibilities of non-invasive diagnosis of fibrotic phenotype of interstitial lung diseases
Progressive pulmonary fibrosis is a major problem in respiratory medicine. Currently, there are no reliable biomarkers for early diagnosis of progressive pulmonary fibrosis, which leads to delayed diagnosis. Aim.

Innate immune cells (monocytes/macrophages, NK) can also develop immune memory, which means that these cells are trained after their first encounter with pathogens so that they exhibit a nonspecific immunological response to the same or another pathogen.

TBDLNet: a network for classifying multidrug-resistant and drug-sensitive tuberculosis [PDF]
This paper proposes applying a novel deep-learning model, TBDLNet, to recognize CT images to classify multidrug-resistant and drug-sensitive tuberculosis automatically. The pre-trained ResNet50 is selected to extract features. Three randomized neural networks are used to alleviate the overfitting problem.
