A girl with cervical adenitis, from which Mycobacterium avium was isolated, and her brother with clinical and radiological evidence of pneumonia presumed to be due to the same organism, are presented. Both progressed satisfactorily after treatment with erythromycin.

Avian cerebral tuberculosis

Tuberculosis of the cerebrum was diagnosed in a 21-month-old chicken. Tuberculous lesions were also found in the liver, spleen, lungs, intestinal walls, skeletal muscles, bone marrow, heart wall and ovaries. Mycobacterium avium was isolated from the brain, liver and the lungs.

Avian Tuberculosis Endophthalmitis

A case of unilateral endophthalmitis caused by Mycobacterium avium is presented. This appears to be the first reported ocular involvement associated with this organism. Despite heroic topical, local, and systemic therapy, there was progressive ocular and systemic deterioration.
