The Multifaceted Role of Pyroptosis: Molecular Mechanisms, Crosstalk with Other Cell Death Pathways, and Therapeutic Implications

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 7, July 2026.
Pyroptosis maintains immune homeostasis by eliminating damaged or infected cells, but its dysregulation promotes inflammation and cancer progression. The diagram illustrates key activation pathways, links with other programmed cell deaths, and cancer‐specific effects, enhancing its dual protective and pathogenic roles.

Characterization of pathological features and immune microenvironment in hepatic tuberculosis and pulmonary tuberculosis [PDF]

open access: yes
Hepatic tuberculosis (HTB) is rare extrapulmonary tuberculosis that is clinically similar to liver malignancy, making it difficult for correct diagnoses. Pathology is the gold standard for tuberculosis diagnosis.

Lipid and Foam Cell Accumulation as Novel Pathological Features of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia

open access: yesThe Prostate, Volume 86, Issue 10, Page 1157-1169, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) encompasses a heterogeneous set of pathological processes that instigate lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). Using a mouse model of steroid hormone imbalance–induced lower urinary tract dysfunction, we identified luminal lipid‐laden foamy macrophages, although their presence and contribution to ...

Disseminated Tuberculosis with Pleural, Hepatic, and Splenic Involvement in an Immunocompetent Adult

open access: yesEuropean Medical Journal
Disseminated tuberculosis represents hematogenous spread of Mycobacterium tuberculosis involving multiple organ systems. Although commonly associated with immunosuppression, it can occasionally occur in immunocompetent individuals and pose diagnostic ...

Multisystem IgG4‐Related Disease Mimicking Malignancy With Cavitary Pulmonary Nodules, Pleural Thickening and Hepatic Mass‐Like Lesions: A Case Report

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 7, July 2026.
Multisystem IgG4‐RD can closely mimic metastatic malignancy and should be considered when thoracic and extrapulmonary mass‐forming lesions coexist. Timely biopsy confirmation is essential to avoid misdiagnosis and treatment delay. ABSTRACT IgG4‐related disease (IgG4‐RD) is a multisystem fibroinflammatory condition that can mimic metastatic malignancy ...

Dysregulated Metabolism in People Living With HIV in the Modern ART‐Era: A Systematic Review of Targeted Metabolomics Studies

open access: yesReviews in Medical Virology, Volume 36, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT HIV remains a significant public health issue, with 1.3 million new infections and 630,000 deaths annually, and 40.8 million people living with HIV (PLHIV) globally in 2024. Although antiretroviral therapy (ART) suppresses viral replication, it does not eradicate the virus, and metabolic dysregulation persists despite treatment.

[Pseudotumoral hepatic tuberculosis].

open access: yesRevista espanola de enfermedades digestivas, 1995
In the absence of active pulmonary disease, hepatic focal tuberculosis is a rare form of tuberculosis. We present a case of pseudotumoral hepatic tuberculosis in a 44-year-old man; diagnosis is difficult because of its radiological similarity with primary or metastatic hepatic cancer.

Hepatobiliary tuberculosis in western India

open access: yesIndian Journal of Pathology and Microbiology, 2008
Tuberculous involvement of liver as a part of disseminated tuberculosis is seen in up to 50-80% cases, but localized hepatobiliary tuberculosis (HBTB) is uncommonly described.
