Tuberculous pericarditis in Birmingham. [PDF]

Forty-one patients with acute tuberculous pericarditis were studied retrospectively. Anti-tuberculosis chemotherapy alone was effective in thirty. Five patients died, two from unrelated causes, two due to delayed diagnosis, and one after pericardiectomy.

Melioidosis Pericarditis Mimicking Tuberculous Pericarditis [PDF]

Cases of melioidosis (N = 2) and tuberculous pericarditis (N = 33) during 1996-2006 were reviewed. Clinical presentations were similar, but pericardial pathological findings were not. Nine of 12 patients with melioidosis required pericardectomy.
