Radiation dose in CT-guided microwave liver tumor ablation

open access: yes, 2022
INTRODUCTION: Ablation is one of most important methods of liver tumor treatment. However, radiation is one of disadvantages of CT-guided procedures including ablation.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Current Status and Progress of Thermal Ablation Combined with Immunotherapy for Lung Tumors

open access: yesChinese Journal of Lung Cancer, 2022
Recent studies have shown that tumor immune microenvironment is closely related to tumor progression, metastasis, recurrence and response to treatment. Some immunotherapies also offer hope for cancer patients. However, the efficacy of tumor immunotherapy

Imaging of gadolinium spatial distribution in tumor tissue by laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry

open access: yes, 2010
Purpose: Laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA–ICP–MS) was utilized in postmortem imaging of gadolinium (Gd) spatial distribution in a mouse tumor model postadministration of PEGylated Gd liposomal nanoparticles.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Diagnostic and therapeutic peroral cholangioscopy

open access: yesJournal of Digestive Endoscopy, 2012
Peroral cholangioscopy (POC) provides direct visualization of the bile duct and facilitates diagnostic or therapeutic intervention. The currently available single-operator POC systems are “Mother-baby” scope system, SpyGlass direct visualization system ...

Microwave ablation induces abscopal effect via enhanced systemic antitumor immunity in colorectal cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2023
BackgroundThermal ablation is the primary procedure for the local treatment of lung metastases. It is known that radiotherapy and cryoablation can stimulate an abscopal effect, while the occurrence of abscopal effect induced by microwave ablation is less;

Percutaneous tumor ablation with radiofrequency [PDF]

open access: yesCancer, 2002
AbstractBACKGROUNDRadiofrequency thermal ablation (RFA) is a new minimally invasive treatment for localized cancer. Minimally invasive surgical options require less resources, time, recovery, and cost, and often offer reduced morbidity and mortality, compared with more invasive methods.

Endoscopic ultrasound-guided tumor ablation

open access: yes, 2014
Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided interventions for treatment of periluminal tumors allows for a minimally invasive alternative to other more invasive methods of tumor therapies such as surgery or percutaneous ablation.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...
