Recombinant Listeria promotes tumor rejection by CD8+ T cell-dependent remodeling of the tumor microenvironment. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Agents that remodel the tumor microenvironment (TME), prime functional tumor-specific T cells, and block inhibitory signaling pathways are essential components of effective immunotherapy.

Down-regulation of the Lamin A/C in neuroblastoma triggers the expansion of tumor initiating cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Tumor-initiating cells constitute a population within a tumor mass that shares properties with normal stem cells and is considered responsible for therapy failure in many cancers.

PIK3CA hotspot mutations in circulating tumor cells and paired circulating tumor DNA in breast cancer: a direct comparison study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, 2019
Liquid biopsy analysis, mainly based on circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA), provides an extremely powerful tool for the molecular profiling of cancer patients in real time.

Tumor Growth with Nutrients: Regularity and Stability [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
In this paper we study a tumor growth model with nutrients. The model presents dynamic patch solutions due to the contact inhibition among the tumor cells. We show that when the nutrients do not diffuse and the cells do not die, the tumor density exhibits regularizing dynamics.

Ethical Implications in the Use of Embryonic and Adult Neural Stem Cells

open access: yesStem Cells International, 2012
The advent and growth of technological advances have led to new routes of knowledge. Thereby, we currently face new challenges. We have just started to get a glimpse of the structural and functional role of neural stem cells in differentiation and ...

Current detection technologies for circulating tumor cells.

open access: yesChemical Society Reviews, 2017
Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) are cancer cells that circulate in the blood stream after being naturally shed from original or metastatic tumors, and can lead to a new fatal metastasis.

Tumor derived Microvesicles enhance cross-processing ability of clinical grade Dendritic Cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Tumor cells release extracellular microvesicles (MVs) in the microenvironment to deliver biological signals to neighbouring cells as well as to cells in distant tissues.

Yap-lin28a axis targets let7-Wnt pathway to restore progenitors for initiating regeneration

open access: yeseLife, 2020
The sox2 expressing (sox2+) progenitors in adult mammalian inner ear lose the capacity to regenerate while progenitors in the zebrafish lateral line are able to proliferate and regenerate damaged HCs throughout lifetime. To mimic the HC damage in mammals,

Overcoming the Heat Endurance of Tumor Cells by Interfering with the Anaerobic Glycolysis Metabolism for Improved Photothermal Therapy.

open access: yesACS Nano, 2017
In this study, we developed a general method to decorate plasmonic gold nanorods (GNRs) with a CD44-targeting functional polymer, containing a hyaluronic acid (HA)-targeting moiety and a small molecule Glut1 inhibitor of diclofenac (DC), to obtain GNR/HA-

Immunobiology of solid cancers: cellular and molecular pathways as potential diagnostic and therapeutic targets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In the last four decades, tumor immunology has shed light on identity and functions of cells and molecules involved in tumor rejection through the involvement of the immune system [1].
