Tumor lysis syndrome and mediastinal mass

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Critical Care
Tumor lysis syndrome is triggered by rapid malignant cell destruction following chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or radiation and is usually seen in leukemias and lymphomas.

Intraoperative tumor lysis syndrome in a child with Wilms' tumor

open access: yesAnesthesia Essays and Researches, 2016
Tumor lysis syndrome in an onco.metabolic emergency resulting from massive lysis of rapidly proliferating malignant cells seen commonly in patients with hematological malignancies such as acute lymphocytic leukemia and Burkitt's lymphoma and is quite ...

Ionomycin suppresses cancer cell growth by disrupting mitochondrial transcription

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, we identify a new function for the selective Ca2+ ionophore, ionomycin, as an inhibitor of mitochondrial transcription. Both total and nascent RNA analyses revealed that ionomycin treatment reduces the transcription of mitochondrial genes.

Accurate and noninvasive prostate cancer detection using plasma‐derived extracellular vesicle RNA

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Plasma extracellular vesicles were captured with WGA‐conjugated magnetic beads and profiled for RNA biomarkers. A three‐RNA panel (NM_024955, NR_047469, and NR_002564) distinguished prostate cancer from healthy controls and benign prostatic hyperplasia, supporting a simple, noninvasive approach to improve prostate cancer detection.

MUC16 provides immune protection by inhibiting synapse formation between NK and ovarian tumor cells

open access: yesMolecular Cancer, 2010
Background Cancer cells utilize a variety of mechanisms to evade immune detection and attack. Effective immune detection largely relies on the formation of an immune synapse which requires close contact between immune cells and their targets.

The pharmalogical reactivation of p53 function improves breast tumor cell lysis by granzyme B and NK cells through induction of autophagy

open access: yesCell Death and Disease, 2019
Cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) and natural killer cells (NK)-mediated elimination of tumor cells is mostly dependent on Granzyme B apoptotic pathway, which is regulated by the wild type (wt) p53 protein.

The C‐terminal truncated splicing variant of NK1R negatively modulates substance P‐stimulated NK1R signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The neurokinin 1 receptor exists as full‐length (NK1L) and C‐terminally truncated (NK1S) splice variants. We show that NK1S heterodimerizes with NK1L, impairing Gαq coupling and Ca2+ mobilization while enhancing β‐arrestin1 recruitment. NK1S suppresses substance P‐driven gene expression and cell migration, revealing NK1S as an endogenous biased ...

Ofatumumab Therapy and Long‐Term Seizure Outcomes of Patients With Relapsing Anti‐NMDA Receptor Encephalitis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective There is a lack of studies on seizure outcomes associated with ofatumumab therapy in patients for relapsing anti‐N‐methyl‐D‐aspartate (NMDA) receptor encephalitis. We aimed to evaluate long‐term seizure outcomes of ofatumumab therapy for relapsing anti‐NMDA receptor encephalitis.

Tumor lysis syndrome: A clinical review.

open access: yesWorld Journal of Critical Care Medicine, 2015
Tumor lysis syndrome is an oncometabolic emergency resulting from rapid cell death. Tumor lysis syndrome can occur as a consequence of tumor targeted therapy or spontaneously.
