An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Prognostic value of chromogranin A in patients with GET/NEN in the pancreas and the small intestine

open access: yesEndocrine Connections, 2018
The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical usefulness of the chromogranin A (CgA) determination in patients with neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) of the digestive system and to analyse the association between concentration of the marker and ...

A new approach to epithelial–mesenchymal transition diagnostics in epithelial tumors: double immunofluorescent staining and flow cytometry

open access: yesBioTechniques, 2020
A new method of double immunofluorescent staining for flow cytometry has been created to evaluate quantitative expression of mesenchymal protein vimentin only in epithelial cells of a solid tumor that is a mix of different origin cells.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

In-situ Formation of Amorphous Co-Al-P Layer on CoAl Layered Double Hydroxide Nanoarray as Neutral Electrocatalysts for Hydrogen Evolution Reaction

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2020
Exploration of high-efficiency and inexpensive electrode catalysts is of vital importance for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). In this research, an amorphous Co-Al-P layer was constructed on the surface of CoAl layered double hydroxide (CoAl-LDH ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Elevated Levels of sLAG-3 as a Possible Biomarker in Graves’ Disease With and Without Thyroid Eye Disease: A Prospective Observational Case–Control Study

open access: yesMedicina
Background and Objectives: The pathogenesis of thyroid eye disease (TED) is driven by interactions between orbital fibroblasts and immune cells. Lymphocyte-activation gene 3 (LAG-3) is an immune checkpoint molecule with a similar structure to the T ...

First steps to define murine amniotic fluid stem cell microenvironment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Stem cell niche refers to the microenvironment where stem cells reside in living organisms. Several elements define the niche and regulate stem cell characteristics, such as stromal support cells, gap junctions, soluble factors, extracellular matrix ...
