Hepatitis B virus infection associated with hematopoietic tumors.

The American journal of pathology, 1994
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection and replication have been linked to the development of hepatocellular carcinoma. Bone marrow-derived cells, as well as mesenchymal and epithelial cells, were recently shown to support HBV replication. We hypothesize that the mechanism that links HBV infection and liver tumors might also promote tumor development in ...

Testicular germ cell tumors in patients with human immunodeficiency virus infection

Cancer, 1996
There has been evidence of a higher incidence of testicular germ cell tumors (GCT) in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-seropositive men than in the non HIV-infected male population. Most authors recommend standard therapy for HIV-positive patients with GCT but the immumosuppressive effects of chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy must be considered. The ...

Enhanced tumor susceptibility of immunocompetent mice infected with lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus

Cancer Immunology, Immunotherapy, 1990
Mice infected i.v. with high doses of lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV; 10(5)-10(6) plaque-forming units) 8-10 days prior to challenge with the methylcholanthrene-induced fibrosarcoma tumor cell line MC57G or the melanoma cell line B16 tumor cells showed an enhanced tumor susceptibility with respect to both growth kinetics of the tumor and the ...

Infection of cultured rat hepatoma cells by mouse mammary tumor virus

Cell, 1977
A continuous line of buffalo rat hepatoma (HTC) cells has been successfully infected with mouse mammary tumor virus (MMTV) produced by the GR mammary tumor cell line. Uniform infection required initial exposure of the HTC cells to greater than 10(5) MMTV particles per cell.

Lectin Binding Studies on RNA Tumor Virus-Infected Cells

Proceedings, annual meeting, Electron Microscopy Society of America, 1975
The abilities of plant lectins to preferentially agglutinate malignant cells and to bind to specific monosaccharide or oligosaccharide sequences of glycoproteins and glycolipids make them a new and important biochemical probe for investigating alterations in plasma membrane structure which may result from malignant transformation.

Effect of lactic dehydrogenase virus infection on tumor induction and tumor growth.

Cancer research, 1981
The ubiquitous nononcogenic lactic dehydrogenase RNA virus (LDV) is one of the most common contaminants of transplantable tumors and oncogenic viral preparations. This association of LDV with a large variety of murine tumors and the known effect of LDV infection on immune competence may suggest the existence of a possible etiological relationship ...

Tumors Induced in Hamsters by Simian Virus 40: Persistent Subviral Infection

Science, 1963
The cells of two hamster ependymomas, originally induced by intracerebral inoculation with simian virus 40 in newborn animals, have been serially cultured in vitro. None of the virus was detected in cell-free culture fluids or cell lysates. All cells retained their neoplastic potential when newborn hamsters were inoculated.

Persistent infection of mouse tumor cells with mumps virus.

Biken journal, 1981
A mouse tumor cell line (MCT) persistently infected with mumps virus (strain Urabe) was obtained. No antibody or chemicals were required for establishment or maintenance of the infected cell line (M-MCT). No difference was observed by light microscopy between MCT and M-MCT cells, except for cytoplasmic inclusion bodies in 10--20% of the M-MCT cells ...

[Tumor necrosis factor-alpha in human immunodeficiency virus infection].

Medicina clinica, 1995
The aim of the present was to determine the levels of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha in patients with HIV infection to study the relationship with the concentration of triglycerides (TG), CD4 lymphocyte count and clinical diagnosis.Seventy-eight HIV-infected patients (58 males, 20 females); mean age 32 years presenting different clinical ...
