This review highlights recent advances in accelerating luminescence in nanostructures through cooperative emission, resonator coupling, and nonlocal light–matter interactions. By unifying concepts such as excitonic superradiance, superfluorescence, and the plasmonic Purcell effect, it reveals physical limits of ultrafast emission and their potential ...

Multidimensional Seismic Control by Tuned Mass Damper with Poles and Torsional Pendulums
Due to the eccentric characteristics and the torsional excitation of multidimensional earthquakes, the dynamic response of asymmetry structure involves the translation-torsion coupling vibration and it is adverse to structural performance.

A codesign multiobjective optimization framework was developed to enhance the morphology and controller of a snake‐like robot driven by artificial muscles. It improved planar locomotion, agility, and power efficiency. The approach optimized link geometry and controller gains, revealing that shorter muscles near joints and longer linkages maximize ...

Tuned mass damper for reduction seismic and wind loads
Tuned mass dampers (TMDs) are used mainly for reduction of seismic and wind oscillations in high-rise buildings. It is well known that base isolation is ineffective in tall buildings.

It is well-known that the acoustic performance of double-plate structures deteriorates rapidly around the mass–air–mass resonance frequency. In this study, a mass–spring–damper system connected between incident and radiating plates is used to improve the

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.

Performance of accelerated oscillator dampers under seismic loading
Structure control techniques have been used to control vibrations in civil structures from natural and other types of hazards for many years. However, it is difficult to achieve effective reduction in the dynamic responses of the structures under seismic
