Rice Tungro Bacilliform Virus: Transcription and Translation in Protoplasts
Virology, 1994Protoplasts from cell suspension cultures of Oryza sativa (monocot) and Orychophragmus violaceus (dicot) support transcription from the rice tungro bacilliform virus (RTBV) promoter and translation of the resulting mRNA despite the presence of a long leader sequence with strong secondary structure and 12 short open reading frames.

Nucleotide Sequence and Genomic Organization of Rice Tungro Spherical Virus
Virology, 1993Rice tungro disease is caused by a combination of two viruses: rice tungro spherical virus (RTSV) and rice tungro bacilliform virus (Jones et al. (1991) J. Gen. Virol. 72, 757-761.). The genome of RTSV is a single-stranded polyadenylated RNA. We present here the 12,433-nucleotide complete sequence of RTSV genomic RNA and its deduced coding regions ...

AbstractTungro virus infection decreased the chlorophyll content in the susceptible rice (Oryza sativa) cultivar ‘Taichung Native 1’, while it increased the pigment in the less‐susceptible cultivar ‘IR 20’ during the later stages of infection. The virus was recovered from the infected susceptibile cultivar as early as 3 days after inoculation ...

Ultrastructural alterations induced by rice tungro virus in rice leaves
Virology, 1975Abstract Particles of rice tungro virus (RTV) were found in phloem parenchyma and companion cells. The most relevant alterations found in these cells were viroplasms and tubular inclusions. Virus particles, viroplasms and tubular inclusions were never observed in mesophyll parenchyma cells.
