Properties of Tungsten-Titanium Sputtered Coatings
Materials Science Forum, 2000In this work the results of studies of W-Ti sputtered coatings on different substrates are presented. The deposition of the coatings has been done on appropriate polished Si and Al substrates. Analyses of sputtered W-Ti coatings have shown that the stability of deposited microstructure influences the other properties of substrates, such as electrical ...

Glass-coated platinum-plated tungsten microelectrodes
Medical & Biological Engineering, 1972Practical methods are described in detail for the construction of tungsten microelectrodes. Straightened 127 μm-diameter tungsten wires are etched to sharp points in KNO2 solution. The sharpened wires are insulated by collapsing borosilicate-glass capillaries onto them in a horizontal pipette puller.

Protective Coatings For Tungsten
JOM, 1963An analysis of the processes important in high-temperature, oxidation-resistant coatings for tungsten and its alloys are presented. Existing coatings now in use are evaluated, and additional coatings are proposed for future development. A thorough list of references is included.

Brittleness of coated tungsten wire
Strength of Materials, 1973The fracture characteristics of 300- and 500- mu tungsten wires coated with brittle tungsten carbide and recrystallized nickel layers of various thickness were studied experimentally. A fracture mechanism is proposed. As a result of bending strains, a narrow crack forms at the surface of the wire and propagated toward its center.

Synthesis of Porous Tungsten from Tungsten–Cadmium Film Coatings
Technical Physics Letters, 2018Solid solutions (alloys) with a Cd concentration of 50.3–76.3 at % were synthesized for the first time in the form of coatings by ion–plasma sputtering and codeposition of ultrafine W and Cd particles. When coatings were formed by tungsten and cadmium nanolayers, the components dissolved mutually to produce solid solutions of one metal in the other.

Tungsten doped chromium nitride coatings
Thin Solid Films, 2008Chromium tungsten nitride films were deposited using magnetron sputtering with ion beam assistance. The content of the films was controlled through the power supplied to the chromium and tungsten targets. Results indicate that the tungsten atoms incorporated into chromium nitride films and formed the chromium tungsten nitride solid solution phase ...

Spark plasma coating of tungsten-coated SiC particles
Powder Technology, 2017Abstract A new method, spark plasma coating, was introduced to coat SiC particles with metallic layers. In this paper, the tungsten (W)-coated SiC particles were prepared through discharge treatment on a mixture of SiC particles and W powders in vacuum. The W-coated SiC particles with homogeneous and complete coatings were obtained at 900 °C for 3 h.
