Fluorocarbon and tungsten carbide multilayer coatings

Surface and Coatings Technology, 1997
Abstract The aim of this research work is to produce and characterize multilayer coatings formed by alternating layers of low-friction materials and very hard materials with particular reference to tribological behaviour. The coatings are deposited by sputtering.

Tungsten Coatings for Divertor Wings

International Thermal Spray Conference, 2001
Abstract For the coating of divertor wings, which in an adapted form may also be suitable for divertor targets, tungsten coatings were developed and optimized with respect to erosion and adhesion behaviour and tested in the Jülich JUDITH facility as well as in the St. Petersburg TSEFEY facility.

Insulating diamond coatings on tungsten electrodes

Diamond and Related Materials, 1997
Abstract Insulating diamond layers of 5–20 μm thickness are deposited by hot filament-chemical vapor deposition (HF-CVD) on tungsten electrodes. These electrodes of about 150 mm length and 2 mm diameter are used for level sensors in hostile environments like water at 350°C. The increase of the resistivity due to N-doping is compared to resistivity of

Tungsten Coatings for Nuclear Fusion Devices

International Thermal Spray Conference, 1996
Abstract High-Z materials such as tungsten are currently considered more suitable for the inner coatings of fusion devices than low-Z materials. The VPS parameters are being optimized for different tungsten powders with respect to uniform pore distribution and distribution of unmelted particles in the coating. High process reliability is

Development of tungsten coatings for ITER divertor components

17th IEEE/NPSS Symposium Fusion Engineering (Cat. No.97CH36131), 2002
The EU design of the ITER Divertor Wing envisages the use of tungsten as an armour because of its low sputter rate. To guarantee an adequate armour lifetime a minimum thickness of 5 mm is required. A promising technology to apply W as an armour for extended surfaces is the plasma spray process (PS).

Reaction Studies of Ceramic‐Coated Tungsten

Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 1961
A coating consisting essentially of zircon and glass was fired in vacuum on tungsten wires. Coated wires were tested up to 10 hours at 3000°F. in an air atmosphere. Microstructural and X‐ray diffraction analyses indicated that the coating on the tested specimens consisted of glass and monoclinic zirconia and that certain tungsten oxides were present in

Tungsten and Molybdenum Coated Nonmetallic Powders

JOM, 1965
Uniform coatings of tungsten or molybdenum can be applied to several types of ceramic powders having irregular shapes. Of two processes tested, the oxide process seems more favorable.

Total Secondary Electron Emission from Tungsten and Thorium-Coated Tungsten

Physical Review, 1939
The secondary electron emission from polycrystalline tungsten covered with monomolecular films of thorium evaporated onto it from a thoriated tungsten filament, has been investigated over an energy range for primary electrons of 100 to 1000 volts. The state of the target surface was ascertained from thermionic emission measurements.
