MIMIC-IT: Multi-Modal In-Context Instruction Tuning [PDF]
High-quality instructions and responses are essential for the zero-shot performance of large language models on interactive natural language tasks. For interactive vision-language tasks involving intricate visual scenes, a large quantity of diverse and ...

Tuning in by tuning out distractions [PDF]
Working memory is a limited workspace for temporarily holding information in mind, and it is critical for thinking and problem solving. A person’s ability to perform a variety of complicated intelligent behaviors, such as abstract reasoning, mathematics, and acquiring new languages, depends greatly on his or her specific working memory capacity.

Student Workload and Degree Profiles: the experience of CLAR credit in Latin America
There is growing consensus in Latin America on the necessity to reorganize the degree profiles in a competence-based and student-centred system, with identified learning outcomes, innovative learning and teaching strategies, and new methodologies for ...

Artificial bee colony based state feedback position controller for PMSM servo-drive – the efficiency analysis [PDF]
This paper presents a state feedback controller (SFC) for position control of PMSM servo-drive. Firstly, a short review of the commonly used swarm-based optimization algorithms for tuning of SFC is presented.

Controlled tuning of whispering gallery modes of GaN/InGaN microdisk cavities [PDF]
Controlled tuning of the whispering gallery modes of GaN/InGaN {\mu}-disk cavities is demonstrated. The whispering gallery mode (WGM) tuning is achieved at room temperature by immersing the {\mu}-disks in water and irradiating with ultraviolet (UV) laser.

Tuning PYTHIA 8.1: the Monash 2013 tune [PDF]
We present an updated set of parameters for the PYTHIA 8 event generator. We reevaluate the constraints imposed by LEP and SLD on hadronization, in particular with regard to heavy-quark fragmentation and strangeness production. For hadron collisions, we combine the updated fragmentation parameters with a new NNPDF2.3 LO PDF set.

Selective tuning of Hilbert spaces in states encoded with spatial modes of light
Spatial modes of light directly give the most easily accessible degree of freedom that span an infinite dimensional Hilbert space. The higher dimensional spatial mode entanglement realized using spontaneous parametric down conversion (SPDC) process is ...

We develop further a new geometrical model of a discretized string, proposed in Ref. 1, and establish its basic physical properties. The model can be considered as the natural extension of the usual Feynman amplitude of the random walks to random surfaces.

Fine Tuning in General Gauge Mediation [PDF]
We study the fine-tuning problem in the context of general gauge mediation. Numerical analyses toward for relaxing fine-tuning are presented. We analyse the problem in typical three cases of the messenger scale, that is, GUT ($2\times10^{16}$ GeV ...
