Resonant Tunneling in a Dissipative Environment

open access: yes, 2010
We measure tunneling through a single quantum level in a carbon nanotube quantum dot connected to resistive metal leads. For the electrons tunneling to/from the nanotube, the leads serve as a dissipative environment, which suppresses the tunneling rate ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Zener Tunneling in Semiconducting Nanotube and Graphene Nanoribbon p-n Junctions

open access: yes, 2008
A theory is developed for interband tunneling in semiconducting carbon nanotube and graphene nanoribbon p-n junction diodes. Characteristic length and energy scales that dictate the tunneling probabilities and currents are evaluated.

Tunneling magnetothermopower in magnetic tunnel junctions [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review B, 2014
Thermally induced spin-dependent transport across magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) is theoretically investigated. We analyze the thermal analog of Slonczewski's model (as well as its limiting case—Julliere's model) of tunneling magnetoresistance and obtain analytical expressions for the junction thermopower and the tunneling magnetothermopower (TMT ...

Feasibility and Tolerability of Performing Portable MRI for Neurological Disorders in an Outpatient Neurology Clinic: A Prospective Cohort

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Accessing brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be challenging, especially for underserved patients, which may lead to disparities in neurological diagnosis. Method This mixed‐methods study enrolled adults with one of four neurological disorders: mild cognitive impairment or dementia of the Alzheimer type, multiple sclerosis ...

Complex Modeling of the Effects of Blasting on the Stability of Surrounding Rocks and Embankment in Water-Conveyance Tunnels

open access: yesComplexity, 2018
Blasting in water-conveyance tunnels that cross rivers is vital for the safety and stability of embankments. In this work, a tunnel project that crosses the Yellow River in the north district of the first-phase Eastern Line of the South-to-North Water ...

Clinical Practice Guideline for Evaluation and Management of Peripheral Nervous System Manifestations in Sjögren's Disease

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objectives Sjögren's disease is an autoimmune disorder that can impact multiple organ systems, including the peripheral nervous system (PNS). PNS manifestations, which can exist concurrently, include mononeuropathies, polyneuropathies, and autonomic nervous system neuropathies. To help patients and providers in the decision‐making process, we developed

Settlement prediction of undercrossing semicircular tunnel-pile set up in soft clay soil

open access: yesScientific Reports
Soil–structure interactions commonly induce displacements, with settlements in weak soils becoming increasingly significant under growing urbanization, making it important to minimize them to prevent structural defects.

Controlled Dephasing of a Quantum Dot: From Coherent to Sequential Tunneling

open access: yes, 2006
Resonant tunneling through identical potential barriers is a textbook problem in quantum mechanics. Its solution yields total transparency (100% tunneling) at discrete energies.

Tunneling rate fluctuations induced by non-linear resonances: a quantitative treatment based on semiclassical arguments [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
We investigate the tunneling process between two symmetric stable islands of a forced pendulum Hamiltonian in the weak chaos regime. We show that when the tunneling doublet is quantized over a classical non-linear resonance the tunneling rate strongly ...
