Investigation of the Molecular Level Interaction in [CH3OH−CH2X2] Complexes (X=I, Br, and Cl) using Matrix‐Isolation IR Spectroscopy

open access: yesChemistry – An Asian Journal, Volume 20, Issue 6, March 17, 2025.
In CH2X2 (X=Cl, Br, and I) molecules, the magnitude of σ‐hole on the X atom decreases from CH2I2 to CH2Cl2 . Three different types of interactions i. e., C−X⋅⋅⋅O halogen bond, and C−H⋅⋅⋅O and O−H⋅⋅⋅X hydrogen bond, are possible in [CH3OH−CH2X2] complexes.

Threshold Based Iteration Stopping Criterion for Turbo Codes and for Scheme Combining a Turbo Code and a Golden Space-Time Block Code

open access: yesAdvances in Electrical and Computer Engineering, 2014
This paper proposes an iteration stopping criterion for turbo decoding with Benedetto's decoding algorithm based on a posteriori probabilities. This stopping criterion is used in two schemes.

On the Performance of Interleavers for Quantum Turbo Codes [PDF]

open access: yesEntropy, 2019
Quantum turbo codes (QTC) have shown excellent error correction capabilities in the setting of quantum communication, achieving a performance less than 1 dB away from their corresponding hashing bounds. Existing QTCs have been constructed using uniform random interleavers.

Balancing Doses of EL222 and Light Improves Optogenetic Induction of Protein Production in Komagataella phaffii

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Komagataella phaffii, also known as Pichia pastoris, is a powerful host for recombinant protein production, in part due to its exceptionally strong and tightly controlled PAOX1 promoter. Most K. phaffii bioprocesses for recombinant protein production rely on PAOX1 to achieve dynamic control in two‐phase processes.

Turbo codes: the phase transition [PDF]

open access: yesThe European Physical Journal B, 2000
Turbo codes are a very efficient method for communicating reliably through a noisy channel. There is no theoretical understanding of their effectiveness. In [1] they are mapped onto a class of disordered spin models. The analytical calculations concerning these models are reported here.

Simvastatin overcomes the pPCK1‐pLDHA‐SPRINGlac axis‐mediated ferroptosis and chemo‐immunotherapy resistance in AKT‐hyperactivated intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma

open access: yesCancer Communications, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is a challenging cancer with an increasing incidence. The Phase III TOPAZ‐1/KEYNOTE‐966 study demonstrated chemo‐immunotherapy (CIT) as a significant advancement, potentially replacing traditional chemotherapy for advanced biliary tract cancer.

A Number-Theoretic Error-Correcting Code

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper we describe a new error-correcting code (ECC) inspired by the Naccache-Stern cryptosystem. While by far less efficient than Turbo codes, the proposed ECC happens to be more efficient than some established ECCs for certain sets of parameters.

Computational De Novo Design of Group II Introns Yields Highly Active Ribozymes

open access: yesChemBioChem, EarlyView.
Group II Introns (G2Is) are large self‐splicing ribozymes with promising biotechnological applications. This study utilized RNA inverse folding to design three novel G2Is. The designed intron Arq.I2, an unexpectedly proficient ribozyme, self‐splices not only in vitro, but also in Escherichia coli cells.

Combined Immediate‐Release and Extended‐Release Formulation of Sodium Valproate Provides Stable Plasma Levels for Inhibition of Histone Deacetylation

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology in Drug Development, EarlyView.
Abstract A modified controlled‐release sodium valproate formulation (VAL001, test) was compared with an approved enteric‐coated tablet formulation (Absenor, reference). Pharmacokinetics and safety/tolerability were evaluated in healthy subjects to bridge with positive efficacy results from an early‐phase patient trial of valproate in combination with ...

Coded modulation scheme employing turbo codes

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1995
The authors present a turbo coding scheme for bandwidth-efficient modulation that outperforms turbo coding with Gray mapping by employing Ungerboeck codes as component codes. The scheme can be decoded iteratively and achieves very good bit error rates at low signal to noise ratios after a small number of iterations. 8PSK is used as an example, although
