Turbo codes exhibit excellent performance gains. Turbo equalization is an iterative equalization and decoding technique. It can achieve equally impressive performance gains for communication systems. Turbo codes are send digital data over channels that require equalization, i.e. those which suffer from inter-symbol interference (ISI).

Turbo equalization with Jointly Gaussian equalizer
Journal of Electronics (China), 2005A Jointly Gaussian (JG) equalizer is derived for turbo equalization based on an augmented real matrix representation of channel model and a Gaussian approximation of the received symbol sequence. Using matrix inversion lemma and Cholesky decomposition, a low-complexity implementation of JG equalizer is also presented.

Parallel MIMO Turbo Equalization
IEEE Communications Letters, 2011Although the use of filter based equalizer with Multi Input Multi Output (MIMO) turbo equalization ensures promising error rate performance at low area overhead, it adds to the latency already imposed by turbo decoding. In this letter, in order to address the ever increasing requirements of high throughput and low latency, two parallelism techniques ...

Modified LMMSE Turbo Equalization
IEEE Communications Letters, 2004This letter presents a modified linear minimum mean square error (LMMSE) turbo equalization scheme that uses an augmented real matrix representation for quadrature modulation systems. In the proposed scheme, the estimates of the two quadrature components of the transmitted symbol have both their individual variances and their covariance considered ...

Turbo-equalization: convergence analysis
2001 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing. Proceedings (Cat. No.01CH37221), 2002We investigate a sub-optimal iterative receiver for joint equalization and decoding called a turbo-equalizer. We view the evolution of the error variance of the transmitted symbols through iterative processing, obtaining the convergence analysis. This allows us to predict the asymptotic performance (when the turbo-equalizer has converged) but also the ...

Modification of turbo equalization with LMMSE equalizer
SPIE Proceedings, 2004This paper investigates turbo equalization (TE) with linear minimum mean squared error (LMMSE) equalizer, which has much lower complexity but much worse performance than TE with maximum a posteriori (MAP) equalizer because of inefficient information processing of LMMSE equalizer.

Adaptive decision feedback turbo equalization
Proceedings IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory,, 2003We present an adaptive iterative (turbo) decision feedback equalizer (DFE) for channels with intersymbol interference (ISI). The filter coefficients are computed directly from the soft decisions and the received data to minimize a least squares cost function. This method performs better than a turbo DFE with perfect channel knowledge, where the filters

Neural approach to turbo equalization
14th IEEE Proceedings on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications, 2003. PIMRC 2003., 2004The turbo equalization can improve the receiver performance significantly. The problem is that the complexity of the optimal algorithms increases exponentially with respect to used code and channel taps. We propose a suboptimal turbo equalizer which is based on iterative equalizer for PSK modulated signals and recurrent neural network convolutional ...

Zero state doped turbo equalizer
IEEE Communications Letters, 2007Although iterative equalizers perform well at low signal to noise ratios, high latency is a major disadvantage for their use in practical communication systems. In this article we propose zero state doped turbo equalizers (ZSDTEs) which can be processed in parallel and have significantly reduced processing delays.

Enhanced MIMO LMMSE Turbo Equalization
2010 IEEE 72nd Vehicular Technology Conference - Fall, 2010We propose an enhanced linear minimum mean square error (LMMSE) turbo equalization scheme for multipleinput multiple-output (MIMO) communication systems. The turbo equalizer employs soft interference cancellation (SIC), where tentative soft decisions of the interfering symbols are subtracted from the received samples before the LMMSE filtering.
