Turbo processing for an OFDM-based MIMO system

IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2005
We consider improving the overall system performance of an orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing-based multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless local area network system. We use a combined iterative detection/decoding and channel updating method, referred to herein as turbo processing, to improve performance.

Turbo-Expander Applications in Natural Gas Processing

Journal of Petroleum Technology, 1976
Turbo-expander processing is the better method for efficiency of liquids recovery in this comparison of choke and expander processing of a typical natural gas stream. The advantages of low-temperature, low-pressure separation of gas liquids are presented, along with a definition of situations in which only a combination of low temperature and low ...

Turbo-coded blind per-survivor processing multiuser detection CDMA [PDF]

open access: possible11th IEEE International Symposium on Personal Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications. PIMRC 2000. Proceedings (Cat. No.00TH8525), 2002
Joint data and blind channel estimation based on the principle of per-survivor processing (PSP) is invoked and characterised in the proposed turbo-coded multiuser detection assisted code division multiple access (CDMA) system. The turbo-coded blind PSP receiver invoked the likelihood function in its metric calculations over the typical urban (TU) time ...

Multichannel processing of DVB/RCS turbo codes

CCECE 2003 - Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering. Toward a Caring and Humane Technology (Cat. No.03CH37436), 2004
Turbo decoder is one of the iterative decoders that its performance is very sensitive to the number of iterations it performs. In a multichannel turbo decoding system, each input frame requires different number of iterations to be decoded correctly. An example of these kinds of systems is the base station of mobile communication system, in which turbo ...

Exploring parallel processing levels in turbo demodulation

2010 6th International Symposium on Turbo Codes & Iterative Information Processing, 2010
Iterative processing in a wireless base-band receiver ensures promising error rate performance at the cost of high processing time for data retrieval. Exploration of parallelism in iterative processes, while maintaining the error rate performance, contributes toward fulfilling the high transmission rate requirements of emerging wireless communication ...

New schedules for information processing in turbo decoding

Proceedings. 1998 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory (Cat. No.98CH36252), 2002
The framework of Bayesian networks has been used to introduce new ways for decoding parallel concatenated convolutional (turbo) codes. Simulation results show that a noisy received block which does not converge using traditional turbo decoding can converge to the correct value with one or more of the methods introduced here.

Sliding-Window Processing of Turbo Equalization for Partial Response Channels

2019 26th International Conference on Telecommunications (ICT), 2019
Spatially coupled low-density parity-check (SC-LDPC) codes are the attractive candidates for the application requiring a practical constraint on the latency and complexity. In previous works, the turbo equalization consisting the SC-LDPC window decoder and Bahl-Cocke-Jelinek-Raviv (BCJR) detector is used to tackle the inter-symbol interferences (ISIs ...

Block processing technique for low power turbo decoder design

Vehicular Technology Conference. IEEE 55th Vehicular Technology Conference. VTC Spring 2002 (Cat. No.02CH37367), 2003
We apply a block processing technique to the MAP algorithm used in turbo decoding. This new technique leads to a power-efficient way to access memory and to a reduced memory size. We introduce the "very long data word" (VLDW) memory architecture, which leads to a reduction in power consumption for memory access operations.

Turbo space-time processing to improve wireless channel capacity

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2000
By deriving a generalized Shannon capacity formula for multiple-input, multiple-output Rayleigh fading channels, and by suggesting a layered space-time architecture concept that attains a tight lower bound on the capacity achievable. Foschini (see Wireless Pers.
