Extensions of turbo trellis coded modulation to high bandwidth efficiencies
Proceedings of ICC'97 - International Conference on Communications, 2002We extend turbo trellis coded modulation (TTCM) with punctured component codes to allow higher bandwidth efficiency. Two techniques, that can also be combined, were investigated that achieve this: the inclusion of uncoded bits in TTCM in conjunction with high order modulation (e.g.

Turbo trellis coded modulation for fading channels
VTC2000-Spring. 2000 IEEE 51st Vehicular Technology Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.00CH37026), 2002The paper presents new power and bandwidth efficient coding schemes that combine turbo codes with M-QAM modulation for fading channels. In the encoder, each group of information bits is associated with its parity check symbol which is alternately obtained from the first and second turbo component encoders.

Interblock memory for turbo trellis coded modulation
2010 6th International Symposium on Turbo Codes & Iterative Information Processing, 2010This paper presents a turbo trellis coded modulation (TTCM) scheme for which the encoding is implemented by serially concatenating a demultiplexer, a multilevel delay processor, and a signal mapper to the encoder of a binary turbo code. Through the delay processor and the signal mapper, interblock memory is introduced between consecutive binary turbo ...

Turbo Trellis Coded Modulation Schemes
2000The effectiveness of trellis coded modulation (TCM) techniques, proposed by Ungerboeck in 1982 [1], for communication over bandwidth limited channels is well established. TCM schemes have been applied to telephone, satellite and microwave digital radio channels, where coding gains of the order of 3-6dB are obtained with no loss of bandwidth or data ...

Turbo trellis code modulation using MQAM
Journal of Electronics (China), 2002The paper presents a kind of reasonable structure for implementing MQAM T-TCM based on the principles of turbo codes and TCM for the first time. It can also be expanded to PSK T-TCM system, and the corresponding decoding algorithm is derived. By computer simulation, its performance is analyzed.

Recursive space-time trellis codes for turbo coded modulation
Globecom '00 - IEEE. Global Telecommunications Conference. Conference Record (Cat. No.00CH37137), 2002Space-time coding schemes are focused on merging antenna diversity with appropriate channel coding in order to exploit benefits of spatial and temporal diversity. We propose the concept of recursive space-time trellis codes for parallel-concatenated space-time turbo coded modulation.

Turbo-equalization applied to trellis-coded-modulations
Gateway to 21st Century Communications Village. VTC 1999-Fall. IEEE VTS 50th Vehicular Technology Conference (Cat. No.99CH36324), 2003In this article, a turbo-equalizer for TCM is investigated. The receiver is composed of a symbol detector or an equalizer realizing soft-output equalization, a deinterleaver, a soft-input soft-output channel decoder based on the a posteriori probability (APP) algorithm.

Turbo-coded pragmatic trellis coded modulation using coset mapping
14th IEEE Proceedings on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications, 2003. PIMRC 2003., 2004This paper presents the application of turbo coding technique combined with bandwidth efficient method known as trellis coded modulation (TCM). A transformation apply to the incoming I-channel and Q-channel symbols allows to use off-the-self B/QPSK turbo decoder without any modifications.

Turbo trellis-coded modulation (TCM) with code matched interleaver (CMI) is applied to develop a trellis coded quantization (TCQ). It can been shown that TCQ of memoryless Gaussian sources results in substantial improvement of performance with iterative decoding of turbo TCM and iterative optimization of minimum overall distortion between the source ...

Turbo trellis-coded modulation with time varying mixed mapping
IEEE 54th Vehicular Technology Conference. VTC Fall 2001. Proceedings (Cat. No.01CH37211), 2002We describe a technique to control the trade-off between the error floor and the waterfall performance of parallel concatenated trellis-coded. modulation (PCTCM), which is also known as turbo TCM, via the choice of coded-bits-to-signal mapping for a fixed component code. We demonstrate that different choice of mapping leads to different error floor and
