Precoder-Aided Iterative Detection Assisted Multilevel Coding and Three-Dimensional EXIT-Chart Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A novel three-dimensional (3D) EXIT chart is developed for investigating the iterative behaviour of Multilevel Coding (MLC) invoking Multistage Decoding (MSD). The extrinsic information transfer characteristics of both the symbol-to-bit demapper used and

Iterative channel equalization, channel decoding and source decoding

open access: yes, 2005
The performance of soft source decoding is evaluated over dispersive AWGN channels. By employing source codes having error-correcting capabilities, such as Reversible Variable-Length Codes (RVLCs) and Variable-Length Error-Correcting (VLEC) codes, the ...

Serial turbo trellis coded modulation with rate-1 inner code [PDF]

open access: yes2000 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory (Cat. No.00CH37060), 2002
We develop new, low-complexity turbo codes suitable for bandwidth and power limited systems. These codes are constructed as an extension of repeat-accumulate codes to high-level-modulations. Two design criteria are proposed, based on maximum-likelihood decoding and on Gaussian density evolution in iterative decoding.

Self-concatenated code design and its application in power-efficient cooperative communications

open access: yes, 2012
In this tutorial, we have focused on the design of binary self-concatenated coding schemes with the help of EXtrinsic Information Transfer (EXIT) charts and Union bound analysis.

Joint Multilevel Turbo Equalization and Continuous Phase Frequency Shift Keying

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2008
A novel type of turbo coded modulation scheme, called multilevel turbo coded-continuous phase frequency shift keying (MLTC-CPFSK), is designed to improve the overall bit error rate (BER) and bandwidth efficiency. Then, this scheme is combined with a new

The application of iterative equalisation to high data rate wireless personal area networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
There is increasing demand for broadband wireless personal area networking devices, mainly fuelled by mobile multimedia applications such as wireless home networks. This paper investigates the suitability of iterative equalisation as a means of achieving

Near-capacity dirty-paper code design : a source-channel coding approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper examines near-capacity dirty-paper code designs based on source-channel coding. We first point out that the performance loss in signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in our code designs can be broken into the sum of the packing loss from channel coding ...

Concatenated Space Time Block Codes and TCM, Turbo TCM Convolutional as well as Turbo Codes

open access: yes, 2000
Space-time block codes provide substantial diversity advantages for multiple transmit antenna systems at a low decoding complexity. In this paper, we concatenate space-time codes with Convolutional Codes (CC), Turbo Convolutional codes (TC), Turbo BCH ...
