Anisotropy in Turbulent Flows and in Turbulent Transport [PDF]
We discuss the problem of anisotropy and intermittency in statistical theory of high Reynolds-number turbulence (and turbulent transport). We present a detailed description of the new tools that allow effective data analysis and systematic theoretical ...

Turbulent Thermalization [PDF]
We study, analytically and with lattice simulations, the decay of coherent field oscillations and the subsequent thermalization of the resulting stochastic classical wave-field.

Is 2D turbulence a conformal turbulence? [PDF]
A critical analysis of the conformal approach to the theory of 2d turbulence is delivered. It is shown, in particular, that conformal minimal models cannot give a general turbulent solution, which should provide for constant fluxes of all vorticity integrals of motion.

Turbulent Firms, Turbulent Wages? [PDF]
Has greater turbulence among firms fueled rising wage instability in the United States? Earlier research by Gottschalk and Moffitt shows that rising earnings instability was responsible for one-third to one-half of the rise in wage inequality during the 1980s. These growing transitory fluctuations remain largely unexplained. To help fill this gap, this

We construct turbulent black holes in asymptotically AdS_4 spacetime by numerically solving Einstein equations. Both the dual holographic fluid and bulk geometry display signatures of an inverse cascade with the bulk geometry being well approximated by the fluid/gravity gradient expansion.

Investigating the Flow Pattern in Baffle Fishway Denil Type [PDF]
Denil fishway contains a direct rectangular channel in different slope rates associated with special baffles inside the channel. The layout of the baffles provides an energy dissipation process which provides an acceptable operating condition for passing

Stirring turbulence with turbulence [PDF]
We stir wind-tunnel turbulence with an active grid that consists of rods with attached vanes. The time-varying angle of these rods is controlled by random numbers. We study the response of turbulence on the statistical properties of these random numbers.

Never is the difference between thermal equilibrium and turbulence so dramatic, as when a quadratic invariant makes the equilibrium statistics exactly Gaussian with independently fluctuating modes. That happens in two very different yet deeply connected classes of systems: incompressible hydrodynamics and resonantly interacting waves.

Diffusers convert kinetic flow energy into a rise in static pressure. This pressure recovery is the primary aerodynamic design objective for exhaust gas diffusers in power-generating steam and gas turbines. The total pressure loss is an equally important
