The Future of Hydrogen‐Powered Aviation: Technologies, Challenges, and a Strategic Roadmap for Sustainable Decarbonization

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2026.
Hydrogen‐powered aviation offers a transformative pathway to zero‐emission flight by eliminating in‐flight CO2 emissions. Key considerations include propulsion systems (fuel cells and hydrogen combustion), cryogenic storage and insulation challenges, infrastructure and cost barriers, and supply‐chain constraints.

Front dynamics in turbulent media [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
A study of a stable front propagating in a turbulent medium is presented. The front is generated through a reaction-diffusion equation, and the turbulent medium is statistically modeled using a Langevin equation.

Computational Analysis of Spray Angle Effects on Combustion and Emissions in Methane‐Diesel Dual‐Fuel Engine

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 3, Page 1100-1112, March 2026.
This study concluded that wider spray angles produce wall impingement and greater unburned hydrocarbons in methane‐diesel dual‐fuel engines, whereas 110° balances efficiency and emissions. ABSTRACT A diesel methane dual fuel engine appears as a potential means for lowering emissions while retaining useful thermal efficiency.

Dynamics of Thermoacoustic Oscillations in Swirl Stabilized Combustor without and with Porous Inert Media

open access: yesJournal of Combustion, 2022
Lean premixed (LPM) combustion processes are of increased interest to the gas turbine industry due to their reduction in harmful emissions. These processes are susceptible to thermoacoustic instabilities, which are produced when energy added by an in ...

Development of the TFC turbulent premixed combustion model: the combustion rates and the counter-gradient transport phenomenon [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We analyze to “bottlenecks” of turbulent premixed combustion modeling at developed turbulence corresponding to modern lean-premixed large-scale industrial gas-turbine combusters when instantaneous combustion (heat release) takes place in thin strongly ...

Effects of heat release on triple flames [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Heat release effects on laminar flame propagation in partially premixed flows are studied. Data for analysis are obtained from direct numerical simulations of a laminar mixing layer with a uniformly approaching velocity field.

Simulation of Nonpremixed Jet Flame Using Flamelet‐Generated Manifold

open access: yesSafety Science and Technology, Volume 1, Issue 1, March 2026.
A flamelet‐generated manifold (FGM) approach is proposed and validated by nonpremixed methane jet flames. The effects of radiation and buoyancy were critically examined, and nonpremixed and premixed tabulation methods were compared, revealing the importance of radiation, buoyancy, and appropriate flamelet prototype in accurate FGM modeling.

Synchronization framework for modeling transition to thermoacoustic instability in laminar combustors

open access: yes, 2020
We, herein, present a new model based on the framework of synchronization to describe a thermoacoustic system and capture the multiple bifurcations that such a system undergoes.

Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) Challenges in Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine Vehicles

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 2, Page 1067-1080, February 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper presents a state‐of‐the‐art literature review on noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) in hydrogen‐fuelled internal combustion engines. Studies published between 2011 and 2025 were screened, covering fundamental flame physics, test‐bench work, and recent prototype vehicles.

Fourier–physical space coherent structure in flame–vortex interactions relevant to flame–turbulence interactions using a new signal periodization procedure

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2021
The aim of the current study is to characterize key multidimensional relationships between coherent structures in physical vs Fourier/scale space representations of flame–turbulence interactions, as a basis for future analysis of the nonlinear couplings ...
