Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Time-evolution of a caustic

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1988
The Lagrange manifold formalism is adapted to study the time-evolution of caustics associated with high frequency wave propagation in media with both spatial and temporal inhomogenities.

Asymptotics of Eigenvalues of First Boundary Value Problem for Singularly Pertubed Second-order Differential Equation with Turning Points

open access: yesМоделирование и анализ информационных систем, 2015
We consider a linear differential equation of second order with a small factor at the highest derivative. We study the problem of the asymptotic behavior of the eigenvalues of the first boundary value problem (task Dirichlet) in situation when the turning ...

Robot Path Planning with Avoiding Obstacles in Known Environment Using Free Segments and Turning Points Algorithm

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, 2018
Currently, the path planning problem is one of the most researched topics in autonomous robotics. That is why finding a safe path in a cluttered environment for a mobile robot is an important requirement for the success of any such mobile robot project ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Level crossings and turning points of random hyperbolic polynomials

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1999
In this paper, we show that the asymptotic estimate for the expected number of K-level crossings of a random hyperbolic polynomial a1sinhx+a2sinh2x+⋯+ansinhnx, where aj(j=1,2,…,n) are independent normally distributed random variables with mean zero and ...

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

A Classifying Procedure for Signaling Turning Points [PDF]

open access: yes
A Hidden Markov Model (HMM) is used to classify an out of sample observation vector into either of two regimes. This leads to a procedure for making probability forecasts for changes of regimes in a time series, i.e. for turning points.
