Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Dispersive waves and caustics

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1985
The Lagrange manifold (WKB) formalism enables the determination of the asymptotic series solution of linear, non-dispersive wave equations at turning points. The formalism is adapted to include those equations which model dispersive waves.

Rethinking Turning Points: Trajectories of Parenthood and Desistance

open access: yesJournal of Developmental and Life-Course Criminology, 2019
While much research has examined the role of parenthood in desistance, it has largely treated parenthood as a binary condition. This article examines the interaction between trajectories of parenthood and trajectories of desistance in order to understand

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Asymptotic Expansions of Eigenvalues of the First Boundary Problem for Singularly Perturbed Second Order Differential Equation with Turning Points

open access: yesМоделирование и анализ информационных систем, 2016
For singularly perturbed second order equations the dependence of eigenvalues of the first boundary problem on a small parameter at the highest derivative is studied.

A High-Order Method for Stiff Boundary Value Problems with Turning Points [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
This paper describes some high-order collocation-like methods for the numerical solution of stiff boundary-value problems with turning points. The presentation concentrates on the implementation of these methods in conjunction with the implementation of ...
