How the Arrangement of Platinum Atoms on Ruthenium Nanoparticles Improves Hydrogen Evolution Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A synthetic strategy for the formation of Pt islands and their transformation into Pt atomic strings on Ru nanoparticle surfaces is presented. The thermodynamically favored configuration of Pt strings on Ru catalyst is demonstrated to catalyze HER via the faster Volmer–Tafel pathway with a significantly improved intrinsic activity, owing to the well ...

In Situ Monitoring and Electrical Modulation of Cellular Behaviors Directly at the Cell–Electrode Interface

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study presents a platform for simultaneous monitoring and electrical control of cellular responses at the cell–electrode interface. The platform delivers tunable yet uniform electrical cues to cells, revealing that optimal electrical stimulation (ES) conditions vary across cell types.

Electrochemical‐Doping of Tungsten on Nickel‐Boron‐Phosphide Microspheres for Accelerated Industrial‐Scale Water Electrolysis at High Current Density

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
The bifunctional W/NiBP (+) || W/NiBP (−) demonstrates superior overall water splitting (OWS) performance as compared to the benchmark of Pt/C (+) || RuO2 (−). Notably, the W/NiBP (+, −) exhibits an ultra‐low cell voltage of 2.68 V at 2000 mA cm−2 high current density as compared to the benchmark value of 3.29 V.

Water‐Mediated 1,7‐Palladium Aryl‐to‐Aryl Migration in an Unusual Aryne Trimerization Enables the Synthesis of Multihelicenes with Profoundly Hindered Stereogenic Axes

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, EarlyView.
In the presence of a Pd0 catalyst, large π‐extended arynes trimerize in an unusual manner to forge extremely compact and strained chiral benzenoids. This new trimerization reaction involves a 1,7‐Pd isomerization, a rare and poorly understood process that is elucidated.
