UDP‐glucuronic acid 4‐epimerase (UGAepi) catalyzes NAD+‐dependent interconversion of UDP‐glucuronic acid (UDP‐GlcA) and UDP‐galacturonic acid (UDP‐GalA) via C4‐oxidation, 4‐keto‐intermediate rotation, and C4‐reduction. Here, Borg et al. examined the role of the substrate's carboxylate group in the enzymic mechanism by analyzing NADH‐dependent reduction

Disruption of SETD3‐mediated histidine‐73 methylation by the BWCFF‐associated β‐actin G74S mutation
The β‐actin G74S mutation causes altered interaction of actin with SETD3, reducing histidine‐73 methylation efficiency and forming two distinct actin variants. The variable ratio of these variants across cell types and developmental stages contributes to tissue‐specific phenotypical changes. This imbalance may impair actin dynamics and mechanosensitive

Job turnover and labor turnover [PDF]
We use information from a unique survey of Dutch firms to compare the standard proxy for job creation, which is based solely on stocks of employment in individual firms at two points in time, to the correct measure that includes counts of actual jobs. Managerial turnover and worker turnover [PDF]

We argue that non-consolidated (recently-appointed) managers are more worried about short-term results than consolidated managers are. This feature leads the former to bias the labor contracting favoring short-term contracts.

The Demographics of Fund Turnover [PDF]

Cyclic nucleotide signaling as a drug target in retinitis pigmentosa
Disruptions in cGMP and cAMP signaling can contribute to retinal dysfunction and photoreceptor loss in retinitis pigmentosa. This perspective examines the mechanisms and evaluates emerging evidence on targeting these pathways as a potential therapeutic strategy to slow or prevent retinal degeneration.

Exposure to common noxious agents (1), including allergens, pollutants, and micro‐nanoplastics, can cause epithelial barrier damage (2) in our body's protective linings. This may trigger an immune response to our microbiome (3). The epithelial barrier theory explains how this process can lead to chronic noncommunicable diseases (4) affecting organs ...
