Tween-80 enhanced biodegradation of naphthalene by Klebsiella quasipneumoniae
Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, 2023Accidental spillage of petroleum products and industrial activities result in various hydrocarbons in the environment. While the n-hydrocarbons are readily degraded, the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are recalcitrant to natural degradation, toxic to aquatic life and are responsible for diverse health challenges in terrestrial animals ...

The versatility of polysorbate 80 (tween 80) as an ionophore
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1999A number of experiments were performed to illustrate the unusual versatility of Polysorbate 80 (Tween 80) as an ionophore. New ions shown to be transported by it from and to water layers through a model membrane (CH2Cl2) include H3O+, Li+, Pb2+, Co2+, piperidinium ion, guanidinium ion, and Paraquat, while two complex ions resisted transport under the ...

Effect of tween 80 on protein-tannic acid complex

Enhancement of bile tolerance in lactococci by Tween 80
Journal of Applied Microbiology, 2002The aim of this study is to clarify the effect of Tween 80 on bile tolerance of lactococci.Four out of the six strains of lactococci could grow in broth containing 0.3% bile in the presence of 1% Tween 80, but grew slightly or not at all in the absence of Tween 80.

Tween 80 and Proteose Peptone Effect on Cellulase Production
Acta Biotechnologica, 1988AbstractTween 80 and proteose peptone effect on cellulase production with Trichoderma spec. was studied. Sugar cane pith was used in the medium as carbon source. Tween 80 increases cellulase production while proteose peptone has influence on enzyme adsorption. There is a combined effect on cellulase production between them.

Effects of the detergent Tween 80 on Thermomonospora curvata
World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology, 1994Tween 80 (0.1%, v/v) added to Thermomonospora curvata growing in minimal medium caused a transient lowering of the dry cell mass, decreased the optimal growth temperature of the thermophile from 62 to 54°C, and increased extracellular esterase activity.

Tween‐80 and impurity induce anaphylactoid reaction in zebrafish
Journal of Applied Toxicology, 2014AbstractA number of recent reports suspected that Tween‐80 in injectable medicines, including traditional Chinese medicine injections could cause life‐threatening anaphylactoid reaction, but no sound conclusion was drawn. A drug‐induced anaphylactoid reaction is hard to be assayed in vitro and in conventional animal models.
