Effect of Roll Material on Strip Solidification between the Rolls of a Vertical-Type High-Speed Twin-Roll Caster [PDF]

open access: yesMetals, 2022
Tool steel for hot working is usually used for the rolls of conventional twin-roll casters for aluminum alloys. In a vertical high-speed twin-roll caster, copper rolls are used to rapidly solidify the aluminum alloys and to increase the casting speed ...

Casting Process at Roll Bite in Strip Cast Using Vertical-Type High-Speed Twin-Roll Caster [PDF]

open access: yesMetals, 2022
The solidification process in strip casting using a vertical-type high-speed twin-roll caster was clarified by inserting a 0.1 mm diameter K-type thermocouple into a strip during casting.

High-Speed and Low-Load Twin-Roll Casting of Al–5%Mg Strip [PDF]

open access: yesMetals, 2022
A conventional twin-roll caster usually casts strips at a speed slower than 2 m/min and a roll load greater than 2 kN/mm. A vertical-type high-speed twin-roll caster can cast aluminum alloy strips at a speed higher than 10 m/min and a roll load smaller ...

Copper Clad Steel Strips Produced by a Modified Twin-Roll Casting Process [PDF]

open access: yesMetals, 2019
Twin-roll strip casting of steel provides a resource and energy efficient way to produce thin hot strips directly from the liquid phase. Clad metals offer less costly alternatives to monolithic alloys for a wide range of applications, but their various ...

Research on calculation model of rolling force in twin roll inclined strip casting process [PDF]

open access: yesMetalurgija, 2021
For the twin roll inclined strip casting process, the tilt angle function is introduced to describe the casting process, and the mathematical model of the calculation of the rolling force coupled with the tilt angle function is proposed, and the ...

Effects of casting speed on microstructural and tensile properties of Al–Mg–Si alloy fabricated by horizontal and vertical twin-roll casting

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2023
For the development of Al–Mg–Si strips with high mechanical performance via twin-roll casting (TRC) technology, it is necessary to understand through comparative analysis of traditional horizontal twin-roll casting (HTRC) and promising vertical twin-roll

Finite Element Modeling of Casting Roll during Twin-Roll Strip Casting [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In twin-roll thin strip casting, the temperature distribution of casting roll affects the roll thermal stress, and influences the thermal deformation, the generation of roll surface cracks, the strip shape, and the service life of casting roll.

Casting of clad strip using a twin roll caster

open access: yesThe Proceedings of the Materials and processing conference, 2000
A twin roll caster to cast clad strip was designed and assembled. This twin roll caster could cast clad strips of aluminum alloys at the speed of 20 m/min. Thickness of the clad strip was about 2.0 mm. The clad strip had a clear interface between the two strips. The clad strip was connected strongly at the interface.
