Microstructure and Texture Evolution during Twin-Roll Casting and Annealing of a Mg–6.8Y2.5Zn–0.4Zr Alloy (WZ73)

open access: yesCrystals, 2020
In the present work, the microstructure and texture of a Mg–6.8Y–2.5Zn–0.4Zr sheet manufactured by twin-roll casting were investigated. The twin-roll cast state consisted of two apparent phases: the α-Mg matrix, which was made up of dobulites with an ...

Fabrication of Mg/Al Clad Strips by Direct Cladding from Molten Metals

open access: yesMetals, 2022
This work describes the fabrication of AZ91D/A5052 clad strips by direct cladding from molten metals using a horizontal twin roll caster. Subsequently, the effects of roll speed, pouring sequence, and solidification length on the AZ91D/A5052 clad strips ...

Homogenization of twin-roll cast A8006 alloy

open access: yesTransactions of Nonferrous Metals Society of China, 2012
Microstructure and hardness of twin-roll casting (TRC) process and direct-chill casting (DC) for A8006 alloy with and without homogenization were investigated by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction analysis and Vickers hardness measurement.

High-Speed and Low-Load Twin-Roll Casting of Al–5%Mg Strip

open access: yesMetals, 2022
A conventional twin-roll caster usually casts strips at a speed slower than 2 m/min and a roll load greater than 2 kN/mm. A vertical-type high-speed twin-roll caster can cast aluminum alloy strips at a speed higher than 10 m/min and a roll load smaller ...

The influence of alloy composition on the as-cast grain structure in near net shape low-density steels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Low-density steels are considered an attractive potential replacement for conventional steel in industries such as the automotive sector. However, there are several issues that need to be overcome before they become commercially useful grades.

Influence of varying twin-roll casting conditions on the microstructure and texture development and mechanical properties of a Mg-6.8Y-2.5Zn-0.4Zr alloy

open access: yesFrontiers in Metals and Alloys
In this study the influence of varying twin-roll casting (TRC) conditions on the microstructure, texture and mechanical properties of a Mg-6.8Y-2.5Zn-0.4Zr alloy (WZ73) was investigated. In particular the twin-roll cast speed and rolling gap were varied.

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.
