Genetic modelling of dizygotic twinning in pedigrees of spontaneous dizygotic twins [PDF]
The inheritance of spontaneous dizygotic (DZ) twinning was investigated in 1,422 three-generation pedigrees ascertained through mothers of spontaneous DZ proband twins. DZ twinning was modelled as a trait expressed only in women. The penetrance was modelled first as a parity independent and secondly as parity dependent.

The Impact of Environmental and Genetic Factors on Bone Quality in Monozygotic and Dizygotic Twins
The purpose of the research was to assess the genetic and environmental influences on bone properties. One hundred thirty-two pairs of twins (99/33 monozygotic/dizygotic) underwent anthropometric measurements and phalangeal quantitative ultrasound (DBM ...

Neurometabolic Stability and Heritability in the Adolescent Brain: A Preliminary Longitudinal Twin MRS Study. [PDF]
In this preliminary longitudinal MRS study of early adolescent twins, neurometabolite ratios in the prefrontal cortex and thalamus appeared relatively stable over a 6‐month interval. Moderate heritability estimates were observed for prefrontal Glx (glutamine + glutamate) as well as thalamic glutamate and choline compounds, suggesting possible region ...

A person-centered and genetically informed approach toward characterizing multidomain resilience to neighborhood disadvantage in youth. [PDF]
Background Examining resilience to adversity across multiple behavioral domains (e.g., psychological well‐being, social functioning) can better characterize positive development and inform novel prevention and intervention efforts. However, few studies have employed person‐centered methods to examine individual profiles of resilience across multiple ...

The tendency to conceive spontaneous dizygotic (DZ) twins is a complex trait with important contributions from both environmental factors and genetic disposition. Twins are relatively common and occur on average 13 times per 1000 maternities, though the twinning frequency varies over time and geographic location.

Isolated imperforate anus in dizygotic twins
The authors report an isolated imperforate anus case in a dizygotic twin, which is the first reported case in the literature, the other reported cases were in monozygotic twins.

Fathering of dizygotic twins and risk of prostate cancer: nationwide, population-based case-control study. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: An association between male fertility and risk of prostate cancer has been suggested, possibly through lower androgen levels in subfertile men.

Indian twin registry: A gold mine for genetic studies
Twins are a source of curiosity, both for the family and the scientific community. Genetic similarities between twins have been the preferred choice to study the heritability of traits.

Urticaria in Monozygotic and Dizygotic Twins [PDF]
Aim. To identify risk factors for urticaria, to determine the relative proportion of the susceptibility to urticaria that is due to genetic factors in an adult clinical twin sample, and to further determine whether the genetic susceptibility to urticaria overlaps with the genetic susceptibility to atopic diseases. Methods.
